Focus on scientific and technological information in economic development

Science and technology (S&T) information is not only pure knowledge but also a valuable resource, an important catalyst for the innovation process and socio-economic development of localities, including Dong Nai province.

In the current context, science and technology information is an important factor in contributing to building a science and technology data system, thereby aiming to build a smart, modern and efficient economy .

The "bloodline" of the digital economic development process

At the end of August 2025, One World Magazine and Ho Chi Minh City National University organized a workshop on the role of science and technology information in socio-economic development.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan shared: In the current era of digitalization and globalization, scientific and technological information is the key to open the door to knowledge, a bridge to help scientists and research facilities access the most advanced scientific achievements in the world.

At the meeting to review the first 6 months of the year and implement key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025 of the Steering Committee for Science and Technology Development, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Project 06 provinces at the end of July 2025, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee LE TRUONG SON emphasized: The Department of Science and Technology presides over, researches and proposes specific solutions to promote the development of digital economy, digital society and digital citizens effectively and substantially. In particular, relevant departments and branches in the province need to focus on removing difficulties and barriers in connecting and sharing digital data, improving the efficiency of exploiting data on science and technology in the province.

In particular, the whole country is actively competing to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. This Resolution has clearly defined the path of science and technology development in Vietnam, in which science and technology information is considered one of the important contents.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized: Science and technology information is considered the "bloodline" of the process of digital economic development, industrialization, modernization and international integration. Contents related to assessing the current status of access and sharing of science and technology information, analyzing trends and impacts of new technologies; appropriate mechanisms and policies to effectively manage, exploit and apply science and technology information... are both urgent and have long-term value, contributing to providing important scientific and practical arguments for the leadership, direction and policy making of the Party and State in the new period.

Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh, Director of the Institute of Business Research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, commented: Science and technology information plays a role in creating growth momentum, enhancing competitiveness, solving social challenges, promoting digital transformation and international integration.

Turning data into useful information, bringing scientific and technological research results to businesses and people for practical application needs to be paid attention to. Therefore, enhancing the role and effectiveness of information and data on science and technology requires paying attention to solutions such as: investing more heavily in developing database systems, actively applying artificial intelligence (AI) to make accessing and exploiting information easier; developing and perfecting the national database on science and technology...

“In particular, the connection between the state, enterprises and institutes/schools in science and technology activities; as well as resource sharing, high mutual support in connection and sharing of science and technology information need to be enhanced and focused on in the current implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW” - Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh shared.

Strengthening information activities and data connection on science and technology

According to many experts, in the digital age, information and data on science and technology are considered the "new oil" that promotes innovation, digital economy and international integration. Faced with the huge amount of information today, localities and related units need centralized management to orient, evaluate and ensure the reliability of data and information on science and technology. From there, we aim to build regional data centers, develop digital technology ecosystems for each field; improve legal and regulatory frameworks on data sharing, intellectual property, and information security. At the same time, apply AI and new technologies to analyze, forecast, support research and policies; build a platform for investment in infrastructure and human resources for science and technology data, promote open science and international cooperation on science and technology, digital transformation, and innovation.

Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Information Tran Van Tung said: The Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Information always highly appreciates and actively supports the activities of localities and units to promote the development of science and technology information. In the context of the strong development of the 4.0 industrial revolution, effectively utilizing science and technology information is not only an opportunity but also an inevitable requirement to integrate and develop Vietnam in general and localities. In particular, smart and creative solutions in applying science and technology information to practical life contribute to effectively implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

In recent times, Dong Nai province has focused on developing information and data sources on science and technology; implementing solutions to promote document digitization and connecting and consolidating shared data. Departments, branches and localities in the province have stepped up the implementation of document digitization plans and connecting and consolidating information systems to serve the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units; linking data to contribute to resolving administrative procedures regardless of administrative boundaries...

According to the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province, in the coming time, the department will continue to standardize and develop specialized databases connected to the province's digital data warehouse and open data portal; deploy a campaign to issue digital signatures, popularize digital skills for people... In addition, the department will promote information and propaganda work, raise awareness and actions of people, businesses and localities on science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the area. This is one of the top important breakthroughs, the main driving force for the development of modern production forces, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality...
