Of which, two expressways: Cau Gie - Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay have traffic volumes of over 12 million.
Although VEC has implemented many solutions, traffic congestion on these routes still occurs, especially during holidays and weekends due to high traffic volume. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway often experiences congestion on Long Thanh Bridge and the road leading to National Highway 51.
VEC said that after being assigned by the Prime Minister to be the governing body to implement the project to expand the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway from Yen Bai to Lao Cai and the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh, VEC is focusing all resources to prepare to start construction on the two projects this year.
VEC also said that the situation of vehicles running out of money in their ETC toll accounts traveling on expressways managed by the unit has decreased by 30% in the first 6 months of 2025.
From July 1, VEC will continue to apply the VAT rate of 8% on service prices using expressways until December 31, 2026.
Regarding the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, VEC said it has completed procedures and prepared infrastructure to collect service fees, expected in August 2025.
