Vietnam women's team beat Thailand to win bronze medal: Hai Yen, Huynh Nhu, Bich Thuy shine

The Vietnamese women's team continued to defeat Thailand with a score of 3-1 in the bronze medal match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (AFF Women's Cup) taking place at 4:30 p.m. on August 19.

In the 65th minute, Huynh Nhu scored the first goal of the tournament after a perfect pass from Nguyen Thi Van. The captain of the Vietnamese women's team celebrated the goal with the Vietnamese flag that she had prepared.

With a goal to consolidate their advantage, the Vietnamese women's team's passing became smoother and more graceful. Just 3 minutes later, Nguyen Thi Van continued to have a delicate pass for Bich Thuy to run up, and she launched a beautiful one-touch volley, defeating the Thai goalkeeper.

In the final minutes of the match, the Thai team tried hard to find an equalizer and in the 87th minute, from a good corner kick, Wirunya Kwenkasikum fired a decisive shot to reduce the score to 1-3. This was also the final result of the third place match.

The final match between the Myanmar women's team and U.23 Australia will take place at 8:00 p.m. tonight, also at Lach Tray Stadium, to find the new champion of the tournament.

After the match, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Le Thi Hoang Yen, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and VFF Standing Committee went down to the field to congratulate the Vietnamese women's team on their bronze medal win! VFF awarded the team 600 million VND.
