Vietnam women's team beat Thailand to win bronze medal
10-point victory of Vietnam women's team
There were not many changes in personnel made by the two coaches in the starting lineup for this match. The home team proactively played slowly in the first minutes to probe the opponent and had less ball control than the opponent.
Thailand took the initiative from the first minutes of the match. The players of the Golden Temple team played a fast pressing style, constantly putting pressure on the penalty area of the Vietnamese team.
In the 45th minute, from a long pass from her teammate, Hai Yen broke the offside trap and rushed in at the right time, unleashing a decisive shot that beat goalkeeper Pawarisa Homyamye.
Entering the second half, with nothing left to lose, the Thai women's team poured forward to attack, looking for an equalizer and continuously putting pressure on the home team's goal.
After that, the Vietnamese women's team regained control of the game and continuously created many opportunities.
In the 65th minute, Huynh Nhu scored the first goal of the tournament after a perfect pass from Nguyen Thi Van. The captain of the Vietnamese women's team celebrated the goal with the Vietnamese flag that she had prepared.
With a goal to consolidate their advantage, the Vietnamese women's team's passing became smoother and more graceful. Just 3 minutes later, Nguyen Thi Van continued to have a delicate pass for Bich Thuy to run up, and she launched a beautiful one-touch volley, defeating the Thai goalkeeper.
In the final minutes of the match, the Thai team tried hard to find an equalizer and in the 87th minute, from a good corner kick, Wirunya Kwenkasikum fired a decisive shot to reduce the score to 1-3. This was also the final result of the third place match.
Bich Thuy continues to shine with a classy goal for the Vietnamese women's team.
