CAHN CLUB deserves to be CHAMPION
CAHN Club turned the match on the evening of June 29 into one of the most lopsided National Cup finals in history, when they easily led SLNA with a score of 3-0 at Vinh Stadium in the first half.
SLNA tried their best to reach the final of an official tournament for the first time after 8 years of waiting, but coach Phan Nhu Thuat and his team played completely below their ability when they were only one match away from the championship. Of course, it is not easy for the weaker team to choose how to play and how to… lose, but besides the difference in level, SLNA also lost because of attitude.

The situation clearly showed SLNA's carelessness in the 5th minute. Le Van Do of CAHN Club dribbled the ball and then passed it wrongly, although the ball had not gone over the sideline, the entire SLNA defense still stood there indifferently watching. It was not until Hoang Van Toan accelerated to steal the ball to continue the attack that the home team woke up. A move that did not lead to a goal for CAHN Club, but reflected the attitude of the two teams in the final. One side was determined and passionate, while the other side was like a "cannon" that had lost its fuse.
CAHN Club easily controlled the game, pressed the field and scored as a matter of course. Quang Hai's long-range shot that hit the SLNA defender's foot and changed direction into the net in the 7th minute, Alan Grafite's powerful second-line shot in the 38th minute, or Leo Artur's technical close-angle shot in the 43rd minute, all took place in the same scenario as a practice match.

CAHN FC was better, but clearly, SLNA could have done better to make the National Cup final less boring. Especially in the third goal, the home team's defense had at least 3 chances to clear the ball away from the goal. However, Phan Nhu Thuat's students were stuck, continuously giving the ball to the opponent to shoot, until goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet's net could no longer withstand the pressure.
Or in the 4th goal conceded right at the beginning of the second half, although CAHN Club counterattacked to put the duo Leo Artur - Alan Grafite in a 2 vs 2 situation, the 3 SLNA midfielders only ran back at a leisurely, superficial speed, before watching the opponent tear the net of Van Viet.
"SWEET FRUIT" FOR COACH POLKING
The 2024 - 2025 National Cup championship is a satisfying ending for CAHN Club this season. Coach Alexandre Polking's students completely deserve at least 1 title, after a persistent journey throughout the season.
The former V-League champion has played a total of 39 matches in 3 competitions this season, more than any other Vietnamese club. Including 26 V-League matches, 4 National Cup matches and 9 matches in the ASEAN Club Championship. The tight schedule (with 2 matches per week) wears down the players' physical strength, but CAHN Club has had a spectacular sprint.
After the unfortunate defeat against Buriram in the Southeast Asian final, CAHN Club came back to win 4 consecutive V-League matches, thereby winning the bronze medal. Quang Hai and his teammates also defeated The Cong Viettel (3-1) and SLNA (5-0), scoring 8 goals in just 4 days to win the National Cup. Although playing continuously since the beginning of the tournament, but entering the final stage, CAHN Club was the team with the most energy and the most ideal form.

In addition to the efforts of the players, it must be affirmed that the success of CAHN Club bears the mark of Coach Polking. Taking over a team that had been physically weak and had no clear playing style since the middle of last season, the German coach rebuilt the former V-League champion team. He maintained the philosophy of controlling the ball, attacking with beautiful passes and passes, and improving the physical strength of his students with reasonable exercises designed by the coaching team (led by assistant Luis Viegas). Coach Polking also created a united team, looking in the same direction with a stable human frame.
The 2024-2025 season is the first time that Coach Polking has taken charge of the entire V-League, and the former strategist of the Thai national team has affirmed his class. CAHN Club entered the top 3 of the V-League, won the National Cup and was actually very close to defeating the Thai champion Buriram. With a star-studded squad from defense to attack, now is the time for CAHN Club to show its true stature, desire and clear personality, after 2 consecutive seasons struggling to find its identity.
