Tired of "ATC crashes," VN-Index heats up at ATC.
In mid-October, the stock market witnessed the phenomenon of "ATC crash." This means that while the market was trading normally, either slightly increasing or slightly decreasing at the beginning of the session, during the ATC trading period, the VN-Index suddenly plummeted, causing investors to suffer heavy losses.
During the October 19th trading session, the "ATC crash" phenomenon persisted, causing the October 20th session to start with much anxiety for investors. At the beginning of the session, the VN-Index fluctuated within a narrow range, with the electronic trading board constantly switching between red and green. However, from 11 am to 2 pm, red dominated, with the VN-Index falling by more than 10 points, signaling a "tearful" session for investors.
However, the stock market session on October 20th witnessed the opposite. While investors were bracing themselves for another loss, the VN-Index unexpectedly reversed course just before the closing auction. A massive influx of money into the market caused the electronic trading board to regain its positive momentum.
At the close of trading on October 20th, the VN-Index rose 20.18 points, or 1.86%, to 1,108.03 points; the VN30-Index increased 18.80 points, or 1.7%, to 1,123.69 points.
On the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange, 389 stocks increased in price (25 hitting the ceiling price), 45 remained unchanged, and 122 decreased. The VN30 group saw 29 stocks increase in price and only 1 decrease. The rare blue-chip stock that closed the October 20th trading session in the red was SSB.

Liquidity remained a notable highlight of the stock market on October 20th. After yesterday's strong surge, today's trading volume on the Ho Chi Minh City exchange reversed sharply, falling to only 658 million shares, equivalent to 14,171 billion VND.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the indices showed significantly faster gains than the VN-Index and VN30-Index during the October 20th trading session.
At the close of trading on October 20th, the HNX-Index rose 5 points, or 2.24%, to 228.45 points; the HNX30-Index increased 19.24 points, or 4.18%, to 479.78 points.
Liquidity on the Hanoi Stock Exchange dropped to very low levels. Only 97.4 million shares, equivalent to 1,837 billion VND, were successfully traded.
Stock and real estate prices surge to new highs.
While real estate and securities stocks plummeted to their lower limit during the October 19th trading session, they reversed course and both surged to their upper limit on October 20th.
Five stocks in the securities sector closed the trading session in the purple (indicating a significant price increase): BSI, HCM, CTS, ORS, and FTS. BSI rose by 2,450 VND/share to 38,050 VND/share; CTS increased by 1,500 VND/share to 29,100 VND/share; FTS gained 2,700 VND/share to 41,300 VND/share; HCM rose by 1,850 VND/share to 28,900 VND/share; and ORS increased by 1,050 VND/share to 16,050 VND/share.
In addition, many other stocks such as AGR, APS, EVS, IVS, MBS, SHS, PSI, VDS, etc., also experienced very strong upward movements.
In terms of the number of stocks hitting the upper limit, securities sector stocks lag far behind real estate sector stocks.
