The campaign was launched by the Ministry of Health on March 29, focusing on expanding coverage, strengthening connections with health organizations and agencies to deploy synchronous communication solutions, contributing to raising public awareness of HPV, diseases and cancers caused by HPV - especially cervical cancer, and measures to prevent HPV infection.
The national communication campaign “For a Vietnam without the burden of HPV” launched by the Ministry of Health aims to provide accurate scientific information through public health education programs in many provinces and cities across the country.
Within the framework of the campaign, a series of scientific seminars were held, bringing together thousands of medical staff and professional speakers from many specialties such as preventive medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology and oncology. Delegates attending came from associations, research institutes, and leading hospitals in the country and internationally, including the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.
Prof. Dr. Phan Trong Lan, Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, shared that it is necessary to join hands to raise awareness and promote HPV prevention actions in the community. The vaccine is a revolutionary preventive medicine achievement, giving people a powerful tool to prevent HPV-related cancers from the beginning. The foundation of this trust comes from carefully designed multinational clinical trials, which are the gold standard in medicine.
After nearly 20 years of global use, the vaccine’s real-world effectiveness is becoming increasingly clear. Authoritative scientific reports have documented significant declines in HPV disease in places with high vaccination rates. The science has provided a clear and proven solution.
Proactively protecting your health through regular screening, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and accessing modern medical advances are key factors in disease prevention. Don't hesitate before this opportunity to protect your health - hesitation today, risk tomorrow.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Vu Trung, Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, HPV vaccines have been deployed in 194 countries and included in national vaccination programs in many countries, including 9 Southeast Asian countries. Vaccine coverage ranges from 42-86% in the United States, Canada, and the European Union. As of 2023, there are 6 types of HPV vaccines available globally.
The launching ceremony of the campaign “For a Vietnam without the burden of HPV” is an important event, demonstrating the determination of the health sector in repelling diseases, protecting the health and lives of Vietnamese people. The event was attended by Permanent Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, leaders of the Vietnam Women's Union, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper, representatives of international organizations...
One of the highlights of the campaign is the community exhibition “For a Vietnam without the burden of HPV”, applying AI technology to provide an interactive experience, helping people learn about HPV, how to prevent it and the important role of vaccination.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a virus that causes warts in humans, which can lead to many serious diseases such as cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar cancer, and genital warts in both men and women. According to data from Globocan 2022, each year Vietnam records about 6,200 cases of HPV-related cancer, and more than 2,500 women die from cervical cancer.
Without effective intervention, the number of women dying from this disease is predicted to reach 200,000 by 2070. These figures highlight the urgency of implementing extensive communication and effective prevention solutions.
According to Resolution 104/NQ-CP dated August 15, 2022 of the Government on the roadmap to increase the number of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program for the period 2021-2030, HPV vaccine is one of four new vaccines that will be included in the program.
