Farmers in Phu Loc have boldly transformed production, creating many models for high income.

Mr. Ho Van Phan in Phuc Loc village (Xuan Loc commune - Phu Loc) is one of the pioneers in the cajuput tree planting model, with an area of nearly 1 hectare. The method implemented by Mr. Ho Van Phan is intercropping in thinned acacia forests. Up to now, this cajuput area has been harvested. He shared that 1 hectare of pure cajuput trees has an average of about 18 thousand trees, yielding from 1.5 to 2 kg of leaves/tree, the later the yield is higher. The current market price of the product ranges from 4,500 VND to 5,000 VND/kg of leaves. Thus, the estimated revenue is about 160 - 180 million VND/ha/batch, 2 batches of leaves can be harvested a year.

Farmer Nguyen Duc Hoa's household in Phung Son village (Xuan Loc commune) is also a typical example in the local hilly economic development movement. With the support and encouragement of farmers' associations at all levels and local authorities, Mr. Hoa has planned a production area with a variety of high-value crops, including: 1 hectare of pepper, 3 hectares of green-skinned grapefruit, more than 1 hectare of durian, 5 sao of red-fleshed dragon fruit and nearly 10 sao of watermelon. Not to mention the economic forest area, his family's income from farming is estimated at about 180-200 million VND per year.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Loc Commune, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh said that with the characteristics of a hilly commune with a total area of 4,382 hectares, of which forestry land accounts for 3,878 hectares, the locality identified the conversion of crop and livestock structure towards family farms and ranches as an important task to promote economic development. Accordingly, the Farmers' Association at all levels has focused on leading, propagating, and mobilizing farmer members to promote the conversion towards the production of local key crops such as acacia forests, medicinal plants, fruit trees, etc. to bring higher economic efficiency.

When he first started building the oyster mushroom growing model, farmer Hoang Van Tho in Vinh My commune (Phu Loc) initially encountered many difficulties in terms of capital and technical aspects. However, with the help of farmers at all levels through support funds, Mr. Hoang Van Tho's gray oyster mushroom growing model was formed and brought high economic benefits to his family.

Mr. Hoang Van Tho said that with a scale of about 35,000 bags of mushroom spawn, the average yield will be from 250g to 300g of mushrooms in the life cycle of each bag of spawn. Currently, the selling price of this type of mushroom ranges from 55 - 60 thousand VND/kg; it can earn over 300 million VND per mushroom cycle from 4 to 6 months on an area of about 350m2.

According to Ms. Dang Hoang Ai Thuy, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phu Loc district, in the district there are currently many new production models with quite high economic efficiency such as: raising porcupine snakehead fish, eel in cement tanks, raising hybrid pigs, growing medicinal plants, pineapple trees... on a family and farm scale. This is the result of the process of innovating the propaganda, mobilization and support work for farmer members of Farmers' Associations at all levels in the district to transform the structure of crops and livestock according to the agricultural restructuring project. Through the assessment of Party committees and authorities at all levels, these models bring clear economic efficiency. Therefore, the Association continues to promote propaganda, mobilization and support for members to establish cooperative groups to link production to increase production efficiency, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development targets in the locality.
