On May 7, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism confirmed the above information and said that Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong signed Decision No. 1263/QD-BVHTTDL, allowing the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board to coordinate with the Institute of Monuments Conservation, the Institute of Archaeology and the CM Lerici Foundation (Italy) to conduct archaeological excavations at the L tower group in the My Son temple complex in Duy Phu commune (Duy Xuyen, Quang Nam ).

The excavation period started from May 9 to July 30 on the permitted excavation area of 150m2 (10m x 15m/1 hole) under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy - Institute of Archaeology.

Before excavation, relevant agencies need to prepare measures to reinforce, strengthen, and support to protect the original state of the architectural foundation that will be discovered as well as the remaining architectural components of the tower.

At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to protecting the stratigraphy of the relic; do not announce official conclusions without the agreement of the competent authority and the Department of Cultural Heritage.

Artifacts collected during excavation must be preserved and protected from damage and loss.

At the end of the excavation, there must be a preliminary report and proposed plan for management and protection of the archaeological excavation area within 1 month at the latest and a scientific report within 1 year at the latest.

Before announcing the results of archaeological excavations in Vietnam, Italy and internationally, the licensed agencies discuss and reach an agreement with the Department of Cultural Heritage.
