At An Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, nearly 300 nurses and midwives directly care for, monitor, and accompany patients 24 hours a day. Having dedicated 23 years to the profession, Ms. Pham Ngoc Thu, from the Outpatient Department of An Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, shared: “The medical profession is a noble one. Caring for pregnant women and newborns is a great joy for us nurses and midwives. There are times when we have to put aside personal matters to participate in shifts, and during outbreaks of disease, we work together to fight the epidemic and ensure safe delivery for pregnant women. The joy of patients and their families is also the motivation for us to continue our commitment to the profession.”

With 16 years of experience, Mr. Tran Tri Thoai, Head Nurse of the Outpatient Department at An Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, has always maintained a dedicated, approachable, and supportive spirit towards patients, especially those in difficult circumstances. Many patients and their families have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for his and the department's attentive service. Mr. Thoai has also actively proposed initiatives to improve work processes and apply information technology in patient management, contributing to the enhancement of the quality of medical examination and treatment.

While doctors diagnose and prescribe treatment, nurses are the ones who directly implement, maintain, and ensure the quality of comprehensive care for patients. The effectiveness of treatment depends not only on expertise but also on the dedication, caregiving skills, and service attitude of the nursing team.

According to Master Thai Duc Thuan Phong, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Nursing Association: “Nurses play a very important role in advising and guiding patients immediately after diagnosis. This is an opportunity for nurses to demonstrate their professional role in accompanying, educating , and supporting patients, especially those with chronic diseases. Nurses help patients understand their illnesses, how to use medical equipment at home, and at the same time, listen to and encourage them to overcome feelings of anxiety and depression.”

Sharing her experience in providing rehabilitation care for stroke patients, Phan Huynh Minh Thu, a nurse at An Giang General Hospital, said that most patients who receive early rehabilitation at a medical facility have a better chance of recovery, minimizing long-term sequelae and improving daily living skills such as eating, personal hygiene, and movement.

Behind the hurried footsteps in the hospital corridors lie countless silent sacrifices made by nurses. These include overnight shifts, hurried meals, and suppressing emotions to care for patients with kindness and patience. Beyond carrying out medical orders, measuring blood pressure, and monitoring patients' conditions, nurses also listen, encourage, and become a source of emotional support for patients during their most anxious and painful moments.

Ms. Nguyen Nhu Phuong, Deputy Head of the Nursing Department at Chau Doc General Hospital, shared: “Nursing is a unique profession where expertise always goes hand in hand with compassion and responsibility. Every word of inquiry, every safe and accurate care procedure contributes to alleviating pain and instilling confidence in patients. The hospital's nursing team will continue to improve their communication skills, service spirit, and the quality of patient care.”

Currently, nursing staff at healthcare facilities are increasingly being given opportunities to develop their professional roles, participate in hospital quality management, digital transformation, and improve patient care processes. The Department of Health leadership assesses that the nursing system from the provincial to the grassroots level is increasingly strengthened; professional competence, communication skills, and service attitudes are gradually improving. Despite high work pressure and increasingly demanding healthcare needs, the nursing staff consistently maintains a sense of responsibility, dedication, and perseverance in their profession, contributing to building an increasingly approachable and humane image of the healthcare sector in the hearts of the people.
