The "gratitude" bus carrying dreams during exam season.

GD&TĐ - Having once received help from a stranger when he went to the wrong exam location, Truong Hai Nam is now offering free rides to candidates who got lost during the aptitude test.

The second round of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test has just concluded, but at test site 34 - Nguyen Tat Thanh University (HCMC), a heartwarming image remains: a young man wearing a ride-hailing service uniform standing in front of the school gate, ready to give free rides to candidates who had mistakenly gone to the wrong test site.

The person in question is Truong Hai Nam, a student at a university in Ho Chi Minh City. On May 24th – the day of the second aptitude test – he took advantage of the opportunity to work as a ride-hailing driver to earn extra income to cover his tuition fees.

Nam drove a candidate to exam point number 35 at the 1165 Do Muoi campus (An Phu Dong ward) of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

However, as he passed by exam location number 34, at the 331A-331B Do Muoi campus of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, about 5km away, Nam saw many candidates struggling because they had gone to the wrong location. He recalled his own experience a year earlier.

At that time, Nam and his friend went to the 331A-331B Do Muoi campus to check their exam room but their names were not on the list. With only about 15 minutes left before entering the room, the two male students frantically tried to move to the 1165 Do Muoi campus.

"We were very worried because no one answered our calls to our relatives. Luckily, along the way, a couple who had just dropped their child off at the exam turned back to help and drove us to the exam site on time. That's something I'm truly grateful for," Nam recounted.

That simple act of kindness became the motivation for Hai Nam to continue giving to other candidates this exam season. Nam chose to wait outside exam center 34 at campus 331A-331B Do Muoi to assist candidates who encountered problems, instead of just accepting rides as usual.

Nam recalled that many candidates were hesitant when they saw him wearing the ride-hailing motorbike uniform because they thought there would be a fee. "One girl asked if bringing only twenty thousand dong would be enough. I just smiled and said I would provide it for free," Nam recalled.

According to Hai Nam, what made him happiest wasn't the number of rides he'd helped, but the relief and reassurance on the candidates' faces when they were taken to the right exam location on time. Those smiles, for him, were "the most generous reward."

Not only did Nam gain the trust of the candidates, but he also received enthusiastic support from many parents, security guards, and staff at examination site 34 during the process of transporting the students. This further reinforced Nam's belief that what he was doing was entirely right.

"Many people might think this is a small thing, but for me, getting the students to the exam site safely and on time is a way to protect the fruits of their 12 years of studying. Sometimes, just a ride, a word of encouragement, or a smile is enough to help them feel more confident before an important exam," Nam expressed.

I hope everyone will realize that kindness doesn't have to be something grand. Simply helping a student get to the exam site on time or offering them a word of encouragement is a very valuable source of support.

During each examination period, Nguyen Tat Thanh University mobilizes all its resources to support candidates and help parents feel more at ease.

According to Mr. Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Examination Center 34 and Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Hai Nam's story has warmed the hearts of many officials, parents, and candidates at the examination center.

Although it was a small act, the willingness to dedicate time and effort to provide free assistance to candidates who went to the wrong exam location demonstrated a sense of responsibility, kindness, and humanity that is truly commendable in a young person.
