(Dan Tri) - The Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) allows the national championship and national cup winners of Thailand and Vietnam to participate in the Southeast Asian C1 Cup next season.

The AFF said that the 2025-2026 Southeast Asian Cup will have a total of 14 participating teams, two more teams than the tournament in the 2024-2025 season.

Among the 14 teams participating in the Southeast Asian Cup 1 next season, the football nations of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore each have two teams participating. Meanwhile, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos and Brunei each have one team participating.

Representatives from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia will go straight into the group stage. Meanwhile, teams from the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos and Brunei will compete in a play-off to compete for a ticket to the group stage.

With countries sending two representatives to participate including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, AFF allows the national champion team and the national cup winning team of each country to participate in the Southeast Asian Cup 1.

According to this calculation of the Southeast Asian Football Federation, Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) can soon reunite with Buiram Unitted (Thailand) in the Southeast Asian C1 Cup.

Buriram United recently won the Thai League. Meanwhile, CAHN Club is likely to win the national cup in Vietnam this season. Coach Mano Polking's team is present in the semi-finals of this tournament.
