According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF): On May 2nd, the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced disciplinary action against Phu Tho Club for its involvement in match-fixing in the National Second Division league.
It is understood that recently, FIFA, in coordination with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), requested Phu Tho Club to provide information related to the aforementioned issues. FIFA regularly reviews corruption cases, and this review runs parallel to the efforts of its member national football federations to combat corruption in football.
"Following an investigation and analysis, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has announced its decisions regarding several teams involved, including Phu Tho Club. Accordingly, Phu Tho Club is disqualified from the 2025 National Second Division and relegated to a lower division due to match-fixing. This decision has been forwarded to Phu Tho Club by FIFA, and Phu Tho Club has the right to appeal to the FIFA Appeals Committee within 10 days of the decision being issued." - VFF press release.
The VFF emphasized that it will continue to cooperate with FIFA and relevant authorities to review and handle the matter in accordance with the VFF's disciplinary regulations.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) affirms that it has been, is, and will continue to strictly handle negative behaviors, while strengthening control throughout the entire national football system.
