TPO - Seeing the traffic light about to change from red to green, the bus driver turned left, crossed into the opposite lane, and then overtook the waiting traffic in accordance with traffic laws.
On March 23, social media went viral with a clip recording the scene of bus number 18 (Ben Thanh - Hiep Thanh market route) recklessly overtaking, causing passersby to gasp.
According to the clip, at around 5:37 p.m. on March 21, bus number 51B - 056.74 was traveling on Hai Ba Trung Street, en route from Ben Thanh Market (District 1) to Hiep Thanh Market (District 12).
Approaching the Hai Ba Trung - Tran Cao Van intersection (Vo Thi Sau ward, district 3), the bus driver saw that the traffic light was only a few seconds away from turning green, so he turned left, encroaching on the oncoming lane to pass the traffic waiting for the traffic light.

The light turned green when the bus reached the intersection. According to the camera image, the bus was encroaching on the solid yellow line.
The incident was recorded by a car camera and posted on social media, making many people angry at the bus driver's disregard for traffic laws and the lives of other road users.
Regarding the incident, a representative of the Traffic Police Team of District 3 Police said they had received the information and were verifying it to invite the bus driver to come in for questioning.
