According to AS, the plane had to circle the Washington area several times due to air traffic congestion due to bad weather. It was not until 9 p.m. that the plane was allowed to land at LaGuardia. No one was injured, but the incident forced Real Madrid to postpone training and cancel the pre-match press conference of coach Xabi Alonso, along with three players Courtois, Valverde and Jacobo Ramon.
This is the second time Real Madrid has had trouble with travel at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Previously, in the quarter-final match against Juventus, the team was also affected by the weather but still arrived at the stadium on time.
