A woman suffered from a seven-year-long infection after a disastrous prank from her ex-boyfriend, according to the New York Post.
In a video posted on her personal page, a woman named Christine Connell said that as a joke, her ex-boyfriend farted in her face while she was sleeping.
“At that time, I had just had ankle surgery and was in the process of recovering,” Christine recalls.
She then began experiencing symptoms such as headaches, fatigue and skin problems that persisted for years without finding a specific cause.

After seven years of suffering from persistent sinusitis, Christine sought and tried a variety of treatments, all to no avail.
Doctors finally discovered the cause of her illness when they took a sample of fluid from her nose. Accordingly, Christine was infected with E. coli bacteria.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, E. coli is a group of bacteria commonly found in the intestinal tracts of healthy people and animals.
E. coli bacteria are mainly spread when bacteria from feces enter the mouth, usually through contaminated food or water, or by touching a dirty surface and then touching the face.
Most strains of E. coli are harmless and even beneficial, aiding digestion. However, some strains can cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and sepsis. In Christine’s case, the bacteria caused a sinus infection, which led to chronic sinusitis.
Sinusitis occurs when the tissue lining your sinuses becomes inflamed. The air sacs in your forehead, cheeks, and nose can become clogged and filled with fluid from allergies, colds, or infections, leading to frequent sneezing, runny noses, headaches, and more.
More than 31 million Americans suffer from sinus infections each year. Most can control symptoms at home with decongestants, nasal rinses, and over-the-counter medications. If symptoms last longer than 10 days, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics or prescription nasal sprays.
In Christine's case, conventional treatments such as antibiotics were ineffective. She will soon need surgery so that doctors can clean out the bacteria, remove the infected tissue and clean the area.
