In recent days, on some travel forums, a photo of a young girl in a daring outfit, taking an offensive photo next to a motorbike in the old Ha Giang area (now in Tuyen Quang province), has especially attracted attention from the travel enthusiast community.

The photo received a lot of interactions, most of which commented that this moment was too offensive when filmed in the colonial land at the head of the Fatherland - where most of the people live, including ethnic minorities with their own traditional culture.
“I can’t understand what the girl was thinking when she dared to wear such clothes in the highlands. I don’t see any beauty or aesthetics in the picture, other than the vulgarity and ridiculousness,” said an account named Manh Tuong.
“This outfit is clearly not appropriate for taking photos in public anywhere in Vietnam. We hope that tourists will behave in a civilized and polite manner, and not seek fame for themselves, which will affect the tourism image that the locality is working hard to build,” said Phuong Linh.
Along with that, some opinions expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the photo and said that it could be just a product created by AI (artificial intelligence).
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Hoang Van Huy said that he is the owner of the motorbike that appeared with the girl in the controversial photo above.

His hometown is Hanoi , but because of his passion for traveling and especially his love for Ha Giang, 4-5 years ago, Huy moved here to live and work. His current main job is related to tourism services in the land at the head of the Fatherland.
This September, he bought a new 150cc off-road motorbike. With a Hanoi license plate, Huy drove himself to Ha Giang. In addition to serving the owner's needs, in his spare time, Huy still rents this motorbike to customers for traveling and taking pictures at a price of 500,000 VND/day.
On November 14, a customer named KT contacted an employee at Mr. Huy’s store to rent a car. The customer rented it for 2 days for 1 million VND, without specifying the purpose of use.
As usual, the owner of the motorbike did not inquire deeply into the customer’s needs. He only knew that the customer wanted to rent the motorbike to take pictures.
After that, the group of tourists moved to Tham Ma slope in Pho Cao commune to take photos. This area is about 100km away from the car rental place in Ha Giang ward.
When the customer returned the car, Mr. Huy did not see anything unusual. It was not until November 20, when the photos of the girl next to her car caused a stir in the backpacking community in Ha Giang, that Mr. Huy was startled to learn of the incident.
“I don’t know the identity of the customer. I only know that last year this girl also went to Ha Giang to take some pretty daring outdoor photos. This time when I saw the photos of the girl next to the car, I was shocked because of the controversial moments,” the car owner explained.
Mr. Huy said that this is also a lesson for him to learn from, to avoid similar incidents in the future.
It is known that this is not the only incident that has caused outrage about tourists taking indecent photos. Previously, in Ha Giang (old) there was a similar story related to inappropriate clothing of tourists.

The image of a female tourist wearing a bikini and posing offensively to film a video on Nho Que River has received a lot of controversy (Screenshot).
In September 2023, a video clip of a female tourist wearing a bikini comfortably posing and dancing while boating on the Nho Que River attracted public attention.
The image was widely shared in travel groups, causing much controversy. Many commented that this way of dressing tarnished the image of famous landmarks.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, a representative of a travel agency specializing in organizing tours to take visitors to famous places in the Northern mountainous region said that the above mentioned behaviors need to be strongly condemned, not tolerating any cases.
"Some individuals may create tricks with the goal of increasing interactions on their personal pages, thereby receiving personal benefits. However, it is clear that these behaviors are not only offensive but in the long term will have a negative impact on the image of local tourism, endangering local culture, especially in areas where ethnic minorities live," he analyzed.
Since 2018, the People's Committee of Ha Giang province (now part of Tuyen Quang province) has issued a code of conduct for civilized local tourism.
Specifically, the document clearly states the requirement for tourists to "wear appropriate and polite clothing when traveling, especially at religious sites, places of worship, martyrs' cemeteries, and traditional festivals."
