Mr. Tran Hai Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien, said: The temporary suspension of visitors to the hut of Chief of Staff Hoang Van Thai is to overcome the damage caused by storms and heavy rains. Because before that, on November 19, in the area of Muong Phang commune, there was a heavy rain accompanied by a whirlwind that caused a tree to fall on the hut of Chief of Staff Hoang Van Thai; as a result, the entire roof and walls collapsed and broke; the total damaged area was about 35 square meters.

As soon as information about the storm and damage at the hut of Chief of Staff Hoang Van Thai was received, the Provincial Monument Management Board coordinated with the Department of Planning and Finance and the Department of Cultural Heritage Management (Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ) to inspect, assess the current situation, and agree on a remedial plan.
In the initial repair work, the staff at the relic site mobilized personnel to clean up, collect fallen branches and leaves; at the same time, stretch ropes, cover with tarps and put up warning signs to ensure the safety of visitors. It is expected that the repair of damage at the hut of Chief of Staff Hoang Van Thai will be completed by November 30, 2025.
