Girl in wheelchair wins first prize in stage script writing contest

On the evening of August 31, in Hanoi , the Youth Theater and Sangsangmaru Theater (Korea) jointly organized the award ceremony of the Children's Script Writing Contest in Vietnam with the theme "Vietnam's Stories Touch the World" .

The contest aims to find stage scripts with high artistic quality, new language, rich ineducation and humanity to be adapted into musicals for children.

After 4 months of launching (from December 1, 2023 to March 30, 2024), the competition has 30 works submitted by authors. The Jury, including members from the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and 2 theaters, selected the best works to award prizes.

The first prize was awarded to the work My Dream by author Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh (Ba Vi, Hanoi). The second prize was awarded to the work The Hen Knows How to... Crow by author Phan Thanh Tung. The third prize went to the work Super 9-spurred chicken by author Nguyen Thu Hien.

In particular, the first prize winning work was inspired by writer Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh herself - a disabled girl who faced many difficulties in life but never gave up on her dreams and hopes.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Um Dongyoul - Director of Sangsangmaru Theater - said that through the contest, he understood more about the spiritual and emotional world of Vietnamese people and Vietnamese culture.

From the results of the competition, he and the Organizing Committee found works that could tell the story of Vietnam that was powerful enough to move and reach the world, powerful enough to conquer international audiences, contributing to promoting the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam through the performing arts.

The director of Sangsangmaru Theater also shared that through the competition, he saw that Vietnam has many potential stage authors. He is cherishing the plan to stage the first prize winning work of the competition as a musical and bring it to a wide audience not only in Vietnam but also in Korea.
