On the evening of May 28, the Vietnam Toilet Association coordinated with the Central Council of Young Pioneers to organize a handover ceremony of 2 public toilets to the People's Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City to put them into operation and serve the people.
These two toilets are located at 8 Nguyen Trung Truc and 135 Nguyen Hue (Tax Trade Center), District 1.

According to Mr. Le Van Hiep, Chairman of the Vietnam Toilet Association, the investment cost for each public toilet is 635 million VND, from socialized sources.
These are two smart toilets, meeting ASEAN international standards, including a shared toilet and a management kiosk located at the front. The toilets will be completely free of charge for the public.

These two public toilets have many outstanding features such as: remote management and incident reporting via the internet; ventilation, exhaust, automatic fan; automatic disinfection with UV rays and drying. All buttons are touchless; instructions for use, voice warnings, user-friendly.
All operations use automatic sensors or foot pedals to avoid cross-contamination of bacteria.
When someone is using the toilet, the outside displays the words "In Use"
Mr. Le Van Hiep said that the toilet uses a 24VDC power source and an anti-shock RCBO, which is absolutely safe for users. The power source is always guaranteed even during power outages thanks to the battery system. The maximum battery usage time is 8 hours.

"All types of garbage that clog toilets that we often encounter in public places such as rags, sanitary napkins, paper... will be crushed into foam or sludge before being sent to the centralized treatment system. This septic system is a very good solution, minimizing toilet clogging during use, no need to dig a septic tank, saving space" - Mr. Le Van Hiep explained.
Free public toilets
Place 2 cameras outside the toilet so that people inside can observe.
According to Mr. Le Van Hiep, this model will be replicated throughout Ho Chi Minh City. According to calculations by the Vietnam Toilet Association, Ho Chi Minh City needs about 1,000 public toilets.
In 2023, this association will work with socialized units to build 200 similar public toilets, and by 2025, about 500 public toilets will be completed.
