Daily Mail on May 10 quoted a statement from Victoria's Secret saying that "Victoria's Secret World Tour 2023" includes a long documentary introducing the talents of 20 designers around the world and Victoria's Secret's creations alongside the live show.
The news comes months after Victoria's Secret announced the revival of its annual, glamorous lingerie show. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was discontinued four years ago.
"Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" used to be a famous annual lingerie show.
The show has been suspended since 2018.
In the announcement, this documentary combines fashion, art, culture with dynamic global creators, top supermodels, world musical talents...
This is the backstage of the "VS20" group of 20 global designers, forming 4 fashion collections from vibrant cities: Bogota - Colombia, Lagos - Nigeria, London - England, Tokyo - Japan. They are empowered to conceptualize, produce, and present the collection in their own way with designers from Victoria's Secret.
Coming from Bogota are fashion designer Melissa Valdes, filmmaker Cristina Sánchez Salamanca, artist Lorena Torres, choreographer Piscis and musician Goyo.
Representing Lagos are fashion designer Bubu Ogisi, filmmaker Korty, artist Eloghosa Osunde, artist Ashley Okoli, musician and photographer Wavy the Creator.
London-based creatives include designer Supriya Lele, filmmaker Margot Bowman, artist and writer Ebun Sodipo, lingerie designer Michaela Stark and artist Phoebe Collings.
Finally, the Tokyo VS20 members include designer Jenny Fax, filmmaker Umi Ishihara, artist Kaito Itsuki, dancer Aoi Yamada, and artist Kom-I.
Victoria's Secret has undergone many changes in diversification over the years.
Many new models are recruited into the ranks of "lingerie angels" and many supermodels also leave their positions.
They are "former angels" and are currently not sure if they will be able to participate in this show.
The film is scheduled to be released in September 2023, streaming globally alongside the live show this fall. It is currently unclear whether supermodels who have been mainstays of the Victoria's Secret catwalk such as Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel... will appear in the documentary and live show.
Victoria's Secret has recently undergone many changes in the direction of diversification with most of the new faces of the world fashion industry.
