On January 14, in Hanoi, a cultural and tourism promotion event took place with the theme "Hubei Soulmate in Vietnam - Meeting Vietnam" organized by the Hubei Department of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi in coordination with the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club.

The event aims to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between Hubei Province (China) and Vietnam, as well as provide opportunities for Vietnamese tourists to explore the unique cultural and tourist landscapes of Hubei. This is not only an opportunity to introduce outstanding destinations, unique cultural and artistic heritage of Hubei, but also an opportunity for the two sides to strengthen the friendship and cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Truong Duc Son, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi, emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two countries in recent years has achieved many remarkable achievements, especially in the fields of tourism and culture. The two sides have not only increased the exchange of delegations, experts, and tourists, but also actively organized programs to promote bilateral tourism, contributing to strengthening cooperation and friendship.

"This event is not only a meeting to express gratitude but also an important milestone to explore new potential for cooperation. This is an opportunity for both sides to promote connections, expand unique tourism programs and build a solid bridge between Hubei - a land rich in historical and cultural traditions - and Vietnam, a dynamic country with rich tourism potential," said Mr. Truong Duc Son.

Hubei, a province in central China, with an area of 185,900 km² and a population of over 58 million, is notable for its magnificent natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Notable in the region are Wudang Mountain - the center of Taoist martial arts and a World Cultural Heritage; Shennongjia - a World Biosphere Reserve, and the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric project.

Visitors can explore the majestic landscapes, enjoy the local cuisine and participate in eco-tourism activities. Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, is a place where modernity and tradition meet, with its museums, old town and unique cuisine.

In addition, Hubei has also strongly developed experiential tourism, such as visiting traditional craft villages, enjoying folk arts, and participating in festivals with strong local identity. Modern Hubei is an ideal destination for international tourists, including Vietnamese tourists.

Tourism cooperation between Hubei and Vietnam has made significant strides, especially in events such as the 70th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (2020) and the signing of the "Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the 2023-2027 period" between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China in 2024. These milestones not only promote bilateral cultural and economic exchanges but also open up new opportunities for tourism between the two countries.

Head of the Tourism Promotion Department (National Tourism Administration), Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong, said: "Vietnam and China both possess unique tourism heritages, attracting a large number of tourists from both countries. In 2024, despite many difficulties, tourism in Vietnam and China recovered quickly after the Covid-19 pandemic. China currently accounts for 24% of the total 17.5 million international visitors to Vietnam. We expect China to continue to be the leading tourism market".

Mr. Phuong also emphasized the strong interest of the two countries' leaders in tourism cooperation, especially in promoting tourism promotion activities and facilitating the connection of direct flights to major tourist cities in Vietnam.

"Hubei, with famous landscapes such as Wudang Mountain and the Three Gorges Dam, is increasingly attracting Vietnamese tourists. In return, Vietnam's famous landscapes such as Ha Long Bay and Trang An are also promoted in Hubei. We hope that promotion, survey and famtrip activities will be encouraged and facilitated in the coming time," Mr. Phuong shared.

According to Mr. Van Phu Linh, Chief Representative in Vietnam of BCTI International Travel Company, the demand of Vietnamese tourists to Hubei is increasing, especially for unique technology tourism products. Notable among them are the Quang Tu unmanned suspension train and the Luobo self-driving taxi in Wuhan, attracting the attention of technology enthusiasts.

The development of the air transport system also plays an important role in promoting tourism between Hubei and Vietnam. Currently, direct flights between Wuhan and major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been expanded with a frequency of 6 flights per week, making it easier for tourists to access famous destinations in Hubei.

Mr. Truong Quoc Hung, Chairman of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, emphasized that the event has opened up great opportunities for exchange and cooperation between tourism businesses of the two sides. Promoting the exchange of visitors will be much more convenient if there is support from charter flights, helping to reduce costs and increase flexibility in travel.

"Charter flights not only help connect key destinations but also facilitate survey activities, famtrips and specialized tourism programs, thereby promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry of both countries," said Mr. Hung.

At the event, representatives of tourism agencies from Hubei Province, including Ms. Zhang Sai, Shunyan Cultural Tourism Bureau, and Ms. Wang Ying, representative of Hubei Overseas Tourism Group, introduced Hubei's tourism potential and unique products.

The agreement aims to build diverse tourism products, promote cultural exchanges and enhance cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector.
