Attending the ceremony were the Interim Government Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of Lands Ali Imam Majumder; representatives of ministries, branches and government agencies; heads of representative agencies, international organizations; leaders of associations, economic organizations, social organizations; businessmen, intellectuals, local press and television reporters and representatives of the Vietnamese community living and working in Bangladesh.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong highlighted the great historical significance of the August Revolution in 1945 and the moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Ambassador also emphasized that after 40 years of implementing the Renovation policy, with the high determination of the entire Party, people and army, Vietnam has achieved many important achievements in almost all fields such as economy, attracting foreign investment, science and technology, security - defense, culture - society .
Vietnam today is a large and dynamic economy, ranked 34th in the world with a GDP in 2024 reaching 476.3 billion USD, an economic growth rate of 7.09%, and a trade surplus of approximately 25 billion USD.

Vietnam has open foreign relations and is a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community. To date, Vietnam has established official diplomatic relations with 194 countries and territories, including upgrading to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with 13 countries.
Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador affirmed that Bangladesh is becoming an important partner of Vietnam in all fields, especially in implementing delegation exchange activities, mutual support at multilateral mechanisms, trade - investment cooperation, aviation, and tourism.
Two-way trade turnover reached 1.1 billion USD in 2024 and the two sides are aiming for a target of 2 billion USD in the coming time.

The Ambassador believes that this good traditional relationship will continue to develop strongly because there is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two countries.
The Government and people of Vietnam always remember and appreciate the valuable support of the Government and people of Bangladesh for Vietnam in the past struggle for independence as well as in the current national construction and development.
On behalf of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Adviser to the Ministry of Food and Lands Ali Imam Majumder sent warm congratulations to the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day.
The Advisor highly appreciated the achievements in Vietnam's socio-economic development, as well as the positive results achieved within the framework of the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade, cultural exchange and agriculture.

The advisor said that there are still many potentials and opportunities for effective cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and tourism; and suggested further promoting cooperation between the business community and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The advisor affirmed that Bangladesh will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam in soon establishing a direct flight connecting the capitals of the two countries and suggested that Vietnam play an active role in the process of considering Bangladesh to become a Sectoral Dialogue Partner (SDP) of ASEAN.
At the event, the Embassy introduced a clip celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, produced by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
