Should the doors be closed when using air conditioning?

VTC NewsVTC News24/05/2023

In the summer, when temperatures rise, using air conditioning is essential and important to bring comfort and health to homeowners.

We often think that when using air conditioning, we must close the door tightly. This will ensure coolness and not damage the machine, however, this is not entirely correct.

VnExpress quoted Hydes, an air conditioning contractor in Coachella (USA), as saying that the air in a closed air-conditioned room is 2-5 times more toxic than the air outside because the air is seriously polluted, affecting health. Staying in a closed room for too long increases the feeling of suffocation and difficulty breathing.

To avoid the above situation, every 15-30 minutes you should open the room door for a few minutes or open the window, vent to exchange air or install additional ventilation fan.

This is the correct way to use air conditioning - 1

Air conditioner is an indispensable electronic device for families in the summer.

Tips for using air conditioner economically

Use "Dry" mode

Use the remote control to switch the cooling mode from "Cool" to "Dry" mode. This simple operation will significantly reduce the power consumption of the air conditioner, but not everyone knows this.

This tip saves electricity because when operating in Cool mode, the air conditioner takes hot heat from the room and pushes it out to the hot block outside, helping to reduce the temperature and cool the air in the room. The electricity consumed for this operation of the air conditioner is quite a lot.

Meanwhile, if in Dry mode, the air conditioner will suck moisture out of the room, returning fresh and drier air. This mode consumes much less electricity than the cooling mode.

However, we should only use Dry mode when the outside temperature is not too different from the indoor temperature. We recommend using Dry mode when the outside temperature is not over 34oC.

Do not set the room temperature too low.

Many customers set the temperature very low, at 16 to 20 degrees Celsius. However, this is a factor that leads to a large amount of electricity consumption of the air conditioner, which can lead to thermal shock when the temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures is too large.

Experts recommend that customers should set the temperature high at 25 degrees - 28 degrees Celsius. If the room temperature is not cool enough, you can increase the fan speed to help reduce the room temperature to a more satisfactory level.

Air conditioner timer

Most air conditioners in homes are used at night during bedtime and we usually only turn them off when we wake up in the morning.

Instead of turning off the air conditioner at 7am, we can set the timer to turn it off at 6am. Even if the air conditioner is turned off except at 6am, the remaining cool air is enough to help us sleep comfortably and pleasantly until 7am.

This small thing helps us save a lot of electricity bills. The timer function is equipped on most air conditioner products.

Clean the filter regularly

The air in cities has a lot of dust that is invisible to the naked eye. This dust will accumulate in the filter of the indoor air conditioner and reduce the amount of cool air supplied to the room.

You just need to remove the dust filter and clean it with water to increase cooling efficiency, thereby saving power consumption.
