The heroic news agency was named and instructed by President Ho Chi Minh.

Throughout the history of the industry's development, Uncle Ho visited, encouraged, and taught Vietnam News Agency (VNA) many times about important things, from big to small.

In the history of the development of Vietnam's revolutionary press, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is one of the press agencies that Uncle Ho paid special attention to. Even the name of VNA, at that time Vietnam News Agency (VNTTX), was given by Uncle Ho.

The development of VNA is marked by his teachings, news bulletins bearing his fingerprints, and the efforts of the entire sector's staff.

The faster the news, the faster the resistance wins.

The sacred moment of September 15, 1945 when VNA issued its first document was imprinted in the history of the country's information and became the traditional day of the sector. Directly founded, trained and guided by Uncle Ho; deeply cared for by the leaders of the Party and the State, in history, present and future, VNA has always been absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people.

Throughout the development history of the industry, Uncle Ho visited, encouraged and taught VNA many times about important things, from big to small matters.

In 1952, Uncle Ho visited T6 and advised VNA staff and reporters, "The faster the news, the faster the resistance will win."

At 7:30 a.m. on the first day of the Lunar New Year 1955, Uncle Ho called to wish the staff of VNA: "New Year, new efforts, new successes" and "Broadcast news quickly, promptly, with good news, a lot of news and ensure the truth."

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 1958, Uncle Ho also personally called to wish a Happy New Year to the staff of VNA.

In May 1965, Uncle Ho invited comrade Hoang Tuan, Director of VNA, to meet and discuss specific immediate propaganda issues, directions for reporting news and photos in each period and in the long term.

When he didn't have time to read the news in the newspaper, he would ask his office mates: "Is there anything special about VNTTX news?", "So VNTTX doesn't have any news?"

Uncle Ho highly valued the VNA news because, according to him, this was a very important source of information with a variety of timely and accurate news and articles.

Regarding VNA news, Uncle Ho almost never missed any important news; he paid special attention to international news related to Vietnam and war news in the South. With important news and articles, especially reference documents, he always marked them to read later in the evening.

Sometimes, when Uncle Ho was away on business or based on his health condition, the Office of the President would regularly send important news to Uncle Ho, and he would listen very attentively.

When he didn't have time to read the news in the newspaper, he would ask his office mates: "Is there anything special about VNTTX news?", "So VNTTX doesn't have any news?"

For almost all prominent domestic and international events, Uncle Ho waited for news from VNA and in many cases, he only gave his opinion after fully consulting the news provided by VNA.

In 1964, it also started with a news report from VNA reporting on the US air force's plan to attack the North of our country, which mentioned the enemy using B52 aircraft. Uncle Ho asked to read the news a second time, then quietly took the news from the assistant's hand.

He wrote the word B52 in large letters at the top of the news and kept it. He requested that from now on, any news from VNA that mentioned B52 from any aspect should be sent to him. He put these news items together and put them in a separate volume.

With his strategic vision, Uncle Ho predicted what would come and he instructed the Ministry of National Defense, General Vo Nguyen Giap and directly the Air Defense - Air Force "We must find every way to defeat the B52." And our army and people excellently carried out Uncle Ho's instructions by crushing the US strategic B52 air raid on Hanoi in December 1972.

Happy to serve you

During their journalism careers, many VNA officers and reporters had the great happiness of meeting and serving Uncle Ho, such as: Dinh Chuong, Viet Thao, Ngoc Khanh, Nguyen Dinh Cao, Nguyen Tien Luc, Tran Van Chuong, Le Tu Vinh, Chau Quy... Some VNA reporters were honored to have dinner with Uncle Ho, and were warmly asked about his health and family by Uncle Ho.

Uncle Ho always had special affection for the collective and the cadres and reporters when they had the opportunity to serve him, creating favorable conditions for reporters while working.

In 1954, on the way to deliver T6 news to Uncle Ho, former VNA reporter Nguyen Tien Luc had the honor of meeting and being taught by Uncle Ho: "Please bring news to me faster. The faster the news, the sooner the resistance will be victorious."

Many VNA reporters still remember Uncle Ho's advice: "If you don't know, then learn. If you learn, then learn. If you are ignorant, then learn. Don't be foolish enough to hide your ignorance. If you know words, you must also know their meanings"; "You must listen clearly, think carefully and write correctly"; "Everything must have a plan and you must grasp the plan firmly"; "Writing must be fair and in the right dose"...

In one of his articles, journalist Dinh Chuong recalled: When editing articles, Uncle Ho paid close attention to the political content in every word used, every small detail. He was attentive to every period, comma, and sentence structure to make the sentences clear and easy to understand. Every word, every letter Uncle Ho used was very precise and clear.

Journalist Le Viet Thao had the great fortune to serve Uncle Ho many times and was advised by him: Take careful notes, listen clearly, think carefully and write correctly. Give concise news, don't describe.

Uncle Ho's concern for VNA journalists, as journalist Chau Quy once wrote: "I understand that the honor and happiness is not mine alone but that of the entire collective of cadres, reporters, workers and civil servants of VNA, who have received the care and attention of Uncle Ho and of our Party and State."

Articles and newsletters printed with Uncle Ho's autographs

Uncle Ho directly approved many news and articles of VNA, and gave professional advice to news and photo reporters. He reviewed and continuously commented on VNA's news, both popular and reference news, pointing out shortcomings to VNA (including mistranslated words and incorrect transcriptions). It is an honor for VNA in particular and reporters and editors in general to not only be taught how to write news, take photos, and translate and transcribe foreign languages, but also to be personally corrected by Uncle Ho himself.

Some reporters of VNA still retain precious memories of Uncle Ho: the news reports that reporters wrote were edited by Uncle Ho himself, meticulously and carefully, down to the full stop and comma, making the news concise, clear and interesting. Not only editing news and articles, Uncle Ho also gave VNA reporters many other privileges, such as being able to interview him.

The VNA news bulletin on July 6, 1954, published an article by a VNA reporter interviewing President Ho Chi Minh about the progress of the Geneva Conference on the issue of restoring peace in Indochina and the future of that Conference...

Uncle Ho initiated the patriotic emulation movement and he awarded his badge to individuals who had achievements in that emulation movement. The source for awarding the badge was the VNTTX news and other newspapers. He read the news of VNTTX and other newspapers every day and told the Office to pay attention to selecting examples of "good people, good deeds" for him to consider awarding the badge.

Before leaving, Uncle Ho commented on the 7 o'clock news bulletin of VNA that day. That was his last comment on VNA news. The paper on which he wrote the entire opening paragraph of his Testament before "saying goodbye to the world" was on the back of the VNA Special Reference bulletin dated May 3, 1969.

In the infinite grief over Uncle Ho, at the memorial service on September 11, 1969 organized by the agency, the Editorial Board, the Standing Party Committee and the Trade Union of VNA recalled Uncle Ho's immense merits and profound memories of him for VNA and loudly recited the 7 oaths to carry out well what Uncle Ho taught and learn from his example to further develop the news agency career, effectively serving the cause of liberating the South, protecting the North, unifying the Fatherland, and bringing the whole country to socialism./.

" Comrades still remember the very beautiful and very touching image for each of us: During the resistance war, President Ho sat on a bamboo chair, in front of a bamboo table, editing news for VNTTX. A Party Chairman, President of the State had a thousand and one things to do like that, the resistance war news was pouring in, then the instructions to ask this and that were so urgent that President Ho sometimes (not that President Ho did this every day) and many times sat editing news for VNTTX. And President Ho himself sometimes called the comrade in charge of VNTTX to give direct instructions if there was an important issue... And until now, President Ho sometimes directly gives instructions to VNTTX on an urgent and important issue" [ Speech of comrade Truong Chinh when visiting VNTTX on September 15, 1959 ]
