Recently, the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) issued a warning to be vigilant against fake and fraudulent information. According to the school, the form of fraud in the form of announcing that students have won scholarships and asking students to pay a fee to be considered has been quite common recently.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology confirmed that it will not issue any announcements or organize any international exchange meetings at the school on December 14, as mentioned in the invitation below. "All procedures for registering and reviewing scholarships for students of the school are implemented in a strict system through email and the school's official electronic information channels, monitored by specialized departments and updated regularly to you," the school's warning emphasized.

The school also pointed out many grammatical and spelling errors, inaccurate information, inconsistencies and lack of transparency, and incorrect presentation of the form... in the invitation letter. "When students notice this abnormality, they need to check and confirm the information from reliable sources through the school's official information channels or directly report it to the police," the school reminded.

The above warning from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology was issued after a complaint about an invitation to an international student exchange meeting that was claimed to be from this school. The invitation congratulated and informed a food technology student about his eligibility to enroll in an international student exchange course in Singapore for students with excellent academic performance at the school. The invitation also introduced scholarships ranging from 25 to 100% according to each criterion.

Notably, the top of this fake invitation is written as the Ministry of Education and Training, but the signature under the document is the order of the principal, head of the administrative-management department, and the stamp shows the Department of Education and Training!

The University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has also just issued a warning about fraud related to this.

The school's warning stated: "Recently, there have been some new scams targeting people (parents, students, pupils) who want to study abroad. The scammers will call the victim's phone number, then contact them directly as in writing."

Notably, the school stated: "These programs require participants to pay fees ranging from several tens of millions to several hundreds of millions of VND to participate. Many people have been scammed, such as this morning a university student was scammed out of 150 million VND."

"In the current era of digital technology development, students should be careful with new tricks and forms of fraud. They must carefully research information, have it verified by relevant and competent agencies and units, and only trust real people and real events. Importantly, they must be mentally strong in all situations," the school noted.

FPT University also warned about a fake document from the school announcing the Japanese Government scholarship program being sent to students.

This announcement states: "Based on the announcement of the Embassy of Japan in Hanoi about the Japanese Government granting short-term scholarships. The number of preliminary candidates is 120. The recruitment target is Vietnamese citizens with good political and moral qualities; truly desire to study in Japan; have good health to study abroad; not under disciplinary action or under the consideration of disciplinary action by competent authorities. The scholarship program is 100% funded by the Japanese Government including round-trip international airfare, tuition, expenses, sightseeing during the study period...

To participate in the program, the school requires students to prove their financial ability, specifically, they need to have 120 million VND in their bank account to get a bank statement to submit to the school. The school notifies all staff, lecturers and students who are in need and meet the requirements of the course to register to participate...". This notice lists the name of the Principal of FPT University but puts this school under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development!

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also issued a warning about the forgery of school documents after receiving feedback about the forgery of invitations to international student exchanges. The school affirmed that it did not issue the above-mentioned meeting program notice. Organizations and individuals taking advantage of the school's brand and image to conduct illegal content activities violate the law, without the written consent of the school. At the same time, it is recommended that organizations and individuals follow the school's official information channels to learn and verify information accurately and completely, avoiding being exploited by bad guys.
