Ibrahimovic's son (left) left Milan to pursue his career. |
The 19-year-old winger joined Milan's youth system from Hammarby in 2022, right around the time Zlatan returned to San Siro. Currently, Zlatan still works at Milan as an advisor after retiring in 2023, but that hasn't stopped his son from pursuing his own path.
According to sources from the Netherlands, Ajax are pursuing a loan deal with an option to buy for Maximilian. Initially, the young player will likely play for Jong Ajax, the youth team of the Dutch Second Division, before being considered for promotion to the first team if he performs well.
Maximilian is reportedly prioritizing Ajax after discussions with several Dutch clubs. This is also the team that was once closely associated with Zlatan Zlatan. The Swedish legend joined Ajax in 2001 and scored 48 goals in 110 appearances over three seasons.
This season, Maximilian played for Milan Futuro in Serie D and made a strong impression with 5 goals and 4 assists in 16 matches. That performance earned him his first call-up to the Milan first team and he traveled with the team to Saudi Arabia for the Italian Super Cup, although he didn't get a chance to play.
Moving to Ajax could be a golden opportunity for Maximilian to escape the overwhelming shadow of his legendary father.
