Police searched the headquarters of Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited.

This information was confirmed by a leader of Thai Thuy District Police ( Thai Binh ) to Dan Tri reporter on the afternoon of January 9.

According to the leader, the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling - Ministry of Public Security , has conducted a search of Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited (Hai Ha Company).

This company was established on September 8, 2003, headquartered at No. 132, Residential Group No. 6, Diem Dien Town, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province and represented by Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai (63 years old).

Previously, on August 24, 2023, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department sent a notice to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security regarding the temporary suspension of exit for Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai, due to tax debt issues.

Hai Ha Company, represented by Ms. Mai, owes more than VND 1,736 billion in taxes (mainly Environmental Protection Tax that consumers have paid to the state budget through purchasing gasoline and oil from Hai Ha Company). This unit tops the list of organizations, businesses, and individuals with tax debts in Thai Binh province.

According to the notice, the reason for the temporary suspension of Ms. Mai's exit is that Hai Ha Company is being forced to execute an administrative decision on tax management and has not fulfilled its tax payment obligations. The temporary suspension of exit is from August 30, 2023 until Hai Ha Company fulfills its tax obligations.

Previously, on the afternoon of January 4, the Government Inspectorate announced the Conclusion of the inspection of compliance with policies and laws in State management of petroleum.

The conclusion notice signed by Deputy Inspector General of the Government Le Sy Bay clearly stated the request to transfer the files to the Ministry of Public Security for consideration and handling according to legal regulations for the three cases.

One of the three cases is "Illegal acts in declaring and paying environmental protection tax on gasoline and oil; using the Price Stabilization Fund for the wrong purpose of price stabilization at Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited".
