Specifically, a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that the new list of wood species imported into Vietnam, calculated as of June 30, 2025, replaces the List of wood species (895 species) imported into Vietnam announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2024.

Accordingly, the wood species imported into Vietnam are prominently: spruce, birch, snake bean, South American rosewood, incense, South American black star, green sugarcane, ironwood, beech, go, sê, sa mu, sa moc, cypress, lim, fir, acacia leaf, maple, beech, go, go, tamarind, python, cashew, star sand, cho, jackfruit, chay, doi, trac, and shell.

Along with that are oak, ebony, forest apple, oil, yellow maple, white canarium, walnut, hickory, walnut, cassia, guava, cedar, rosewood, African ox gall, Japanese pine, weeping cypress, white pine, rosewood, hairy acacia, mahogany, po mu, green rosewood, mother of pearl, bitter, bitter leaf, spruce...

The list of wood species imported into Vietnam is compiled from data sources provided by the Customs Department and the Vietnam Timber and Forest Products Association.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Bao - Director of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, the fact that Vietnam has stopped exploiting natural forests since 2014 and is currently only using planted forest wood, rubber wood, and imported wood with traceability is proof of the sustainable development efforts of the Vietnamese forestry industry.

Some solutions to develop a sustainable wood industry include standardizing data from input to output to serve traceability; creating development momentum for the forestry industry, instead of only focusing on one-way protection./.
