The official theme song of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games , titled “Parade,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on May 8 (French time, 0:30 a.m. Vietnam time on May 9) when the Olympic torch arrives in Marseille.
Composer Victor le Masne was also chosen as the Musical Director for the opening and closing ceremonies of the two events.
Sharing with reporters, musician Le Masne said he wanted to create an original piece of music that not only accompanies memorable moments of major sporting events but also resonates in the memories of all generations.
The Olympic Organizing Committee describes the theme song as capturing the vibrant and global spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The piece will be performed live by the Marseille Symphony Orchestra at the Olympic torch landing, marking the start of a series of events to celebrate the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in France.
On the morning of May 8, the Olympic torch arrived in the city of Marseille, just outside the port, under tight security.
According to plan, French athlete Florent Manaudou, champion of the men's 50m freestyle swimming event at the 2012 Olympics, will bring the torch to the ground at around 7:30 p.m.
The event was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The torch relay will begin on May 9, with former Marseille football club players Jean-Pierre Papin, Didier Drogba and Basile Boli, as well as French basketball legend Tony Parker among the torchbearers.
More than 10,000 people will take part in the torch relay before the flame reaches Paris and is placed near the Louvre museum, in the Tuileries gardens.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics will take place on the Seine River on July 26./.
