This is an activity to promote the tradition of drinking water and remembering its source, recognizing the merits of Lord Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh. He was the general who laid the foundation for the land of Saigon - Gia Dinh (now Ho Chi Minh City), the first person to establish the administrative system in the Southern region. Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders at the ceremony to announce the content of the stele of Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh

Being of a military lineage, Nguyen Huu Canh followed his father to war early, achieved many feats, and was appointed Cai Co by Lord Nguyen Phuc Tan (1620 - 1687). In the spring, February of the year Mau Dan (1698), Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu appointed Nguyen Huu Canh as Commander-in-Chief, led troops to inspect Dong Nai, took Nong Nai Dong Pho land and established it as Gia Dinh prefecture, took Dong Nai as Phuoc Long district, established Tran Bien camp, took Saigon as Tan Binh district, and established Phien Tran camp. He gathered and recruited migrants, and at the same time appointed officials and soldiers to manage, organize land reclamation, set tax quotas, and make land registers, establishing the sovereignty of Dang Trong.

He also led his army to attack, defeated the Champa army, changed the name of Champa to Thuan Thanh town (present-day Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan areas) and defeated the invasion of the king of Chenla, after defeating the army of Nặc Thu, pacified the people and withdrew his troops. He passed away on May 16, Canh Thin year (1700), at the age of 51.

Since 2020, after synthesizing opinions from departments and branches and reaching consensus on content and form in a meeting between the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and Mr. Cao Tu Thanh - author of the stele; the Management Board of the National Historical and Cultural Park has printed the full content of the stele and pasted it with decals on the stone stele at the temple.

From 2020 to 2022, the management board continued to collect comments directly in the book at the temple and introduced the comment link to the board's website. Most of the comments agreed with the content and had no further comments. After that, the content of the stele continued to be edited and completed based on the comments received according to Document No. 80/QLDSVH dated May 10, 2022 of the Department of Cultural Heritage Management under the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City on the form of engraving the content of the stele on the stone stele at the Temple of Duc Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh; Official Dispatch 1634-CV/BTGTU of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee dated May 23 on engraving the content of the stele on the stone stele at the Temple of Duc Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh.

Afterwards, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders respectfully offered incense to Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh to express gratitude and acknowledge his merits.
