Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that the confederation has just planned to organize activities to take care of Tet for union members and workers.
Special Tet gifts for workers
In particular, the General Confederation gives priority to workers in difficulty, those who have had work accidents, serious illnesses, occupational diseases, or who have lost their jobs, had their working hours reduced, or have unpaid wages and bonuses.
In addition, union members from policy families, ethnic minorities, who have not had the opportunity to return home for Tet for many years or have to stay at factories, construction sites, agencies, and units to work during Tet are also given priority support.
Trade unions require that care must be practical, safe, economical, and avoid formalities so that workers can truly benefit.
Trade unions at all levels need to proactively coordinate with businesses and local authorities to mobilize additional support resources.
At the general confederation level, working delegations will visit, give gifts and wish a happy new year to workers in industrial parks, remote areas, heavy and dangerous occupations or those affected by natural disasters.
Each Tet gift is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND (including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in kind), paid from the regular fund of the General Confederation.
According to Mr. Phan Van Anh, in addition to the programs "Tet Sum Vay" and "Tet Khong Xa Nha", trade unions, local authorities and businesses will support some places such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai , Tay Ninh to organize buses, trains and flights to bring workers home to celebrate Tet (for example, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa).

The first "Union Year-end Dinner"
This Tet, the "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" is expected to be held in person (Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City) and online, helping workers shop for quality Vietnamese goods at preferential prices. At the Tet market, union members have the opportunity to receive shopping vouchers, "0 VND" products, legal advice, free medicine, free motorcycle oil changes, etc.
In places where many people do not return home for Tet, the union can organize the program "Tet not far from home" or other suitable forms, focusing on visiting and giving gifts to workers at boarding houses or construction sites and projects.
"The new point this year is the "Union Year-end Dinner" program and the care and support activities aimed at the grassroots and businesses, giving more power to the grassroots. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor sets the goal of caring for the Lunar New Year 2026 to be greater than previous years," said Mr. Anh.
For Tet 2025, the General Confederation will mobilize more than 6,000 billion VND to care for and support union members. This year, the amount mobilized is expected to increase by 10-15%.
According to Mr. Anh, for localities affected by storms and floods, in addition to launching support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front, trade unions at all levels proactively take care of union members in difficulty with a level of 2 million VND/person, some places will be higher depending on actual resources.
