The oldest hospital in Ho Chi Minh City
Saigon General Hospital is a public hospital, under the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, located opposite Ben Thanh Market. The hospital has made its mark in the medical history of the city, being one of the oldest hospitals.
Starting as a clinic in 1914, the hospital has gone through many stages of development and expansion. From the name "Polyclinique Dejean de la Batie" in 1939, to the name change to "Hospital Saigon" in 1955, the hospital has continuously served and provided diverse medical care to the community.
As of 1985, after a process of mergers and changes, the hospital continued to exist and operate under the name "Saigon General Hospital".
Every day, this hospital receives approximately more than 600 outpatient visits, 80-100 inpatient visits, 50-80 emergency visits (including external emergency visits), and performs an average of 10 scheduled surgeries per day.
