Before they could recover from the storm, they had to face floods, causing both material and mental damage. In the face of this urgent situation, the Trade Union activated emergency support plans, mobilizing resources to help workers overcome the most difficult period.

More than 1.5 billion VND in emergency support

According to quick statistics from the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor, on this occasion, many families of workers in the areas of Chu Prong, Ia Pa, Kbang, Dak Doa... had to evacuate urgently. As soon as the information was received, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directed the implementation of special support packages, prioritizing cases of heavy damage, poor workers, families with young children or the elderly.

In just a short time, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and local labor federations have mobilized more than 1.5 billion VND to support Gia Lai, demonstrating the strong spirit of sharing of the Trade Union organization with union members and workers.

On November 24, at Duc Toan Company Limited (Phu Tai Industrial Park, Quy Nhon Bac Ward, Gia Lai Province), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor provided emergency support of VND1 billion to union members and workers severely affected by storm No. 13 and the recent floods. Grassroots trade unions are working hard to rescue workers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Permanent Vice President of Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation said that the goal of the Union is not to leave any union member behind. According to Ms. Thuy, in just a short time, Gia Lai has been continuously affected by storm No. 13 and the historic flood, causing heavy damage to people and property, directly affecting many union members and workers. In difficult times, the timely attention and support from the Central Government, organizations and localities across the country, including the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, has provided additional resources for workers to soon stabilize their lives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai (residing in Tuy Phuoc Tay commune) - a worker at Duc Toan Company Ltd. shared: "The flood was unprecedented, all the furniture in the house was submerged and completely damaged. Half a month ago, a fierce storm blew away the entire corrugated iron roof, and as soon as the roof was installed, the flood submerged the furniture again. I am very happy to receive support from the Union, this amount of money helps to overcome the current difficulties." The most important thing, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai, is that the trust in the Union organization has been strongly strengthened, in the most difficult times, workers always have a support, an organization to protect and accompany them.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhi (residing in Quy Nhon Bac ward) - a worker at Duc Toan Company Ltd. - sadly recounted that her house was completely damaged and her family's finances were exhausted after two consecutive natural disasters. Her husband was seriously injured in the storm and is currently undergoing surgery in Ho Chi Minh City, making their already difficult life even more difficult.

"In times of danger, I received help from neighbors and philanthropists, and now the timely care and support from the Trade Union. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without this support, I don't know how to get up," said Nhi.
