The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck on March 28 caused serious damage to people, property and cultural structures in many major cities of Myanmar. This is a great loss not only for the country but also for all the people of Myanmar.
With the spirit of “mutual love and support” and the tradition of sharing of Vietnamese enterprises, and at the same time expressing gratitude to the country and people of Myanmar - where Hai Duong Petroleum Maritime Joint Stock Company (HADUCO) has been providing ship services to offshore oil and gas companies since 2017, HADUCO has implemented many volunteer activities in Myanmar to support overcoming the severe consequences caused by natural disasters.
On April 8, in Yangon city, HADUCO presented a grant of 50,000 USD to the Myanmar Red Cross Society. The ceremony was attended by oil and gas and oil and gas service companies operating in Myanmar such as PTTEP, PTTEPI, Energy Drilling... This is a practical action to join hands with the people and the Government of Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and rebuilding life after the earthquake.
On April 8-9, representatives of HADUCO directly went to the areas severely affected by the earthquake to visit and support religious establishments, schools, and households that suffered serious damage to people and property. The delegation sent condolences and encouraged people to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
In addition, HADUCO representatives also had a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar to report on HADUCO's operations in this market, and listened to the Embassy's sharing on the impact of the earthquake on the Vietnamese community and the people of Myanmar. Responding to the call from the Embassy and the Vietnam Business Association in Myanmar, HADUCO donated 250,000,000 VND to join hands to support the people of Myanmar to overcome difficulties and recover from natural disasters.
The above activities demonstrate HADUCO's social responsibility to the international community, as well as HADUCO's long-term commitment to sustainable development associated with sharing and humanity.
Immediately after the strong earthquake occurred, causing particularly serious damage in Myanmar, with the nation's humanitarian tradition, in the spirit of "Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community", Vietnam decided to send a working support delegation of 106 officers and soldiers of the Army and Police to Myanmar to participate in humanitarian relief and earthquake recovery. This is the third time Vietnam has sent forces directly to carry out humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions abroad and it was deployed very quickly (less than 24 hours). This shows a clear improvement in capacity and experience, affirming the mettle and prestige of Vietnamese rescue forces in the face of non-traditional security issues, which are respected and highly appreciated by the international community and the Government and people of Myanmar . |
