TSMC set to announce record second-quarter profits
According to Reuters , the world's largest chipmaker - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) - is expected to announce a 52% increase in second-quarter profit, reaching about $12.9 billion, thanks to strong demand for AI chips.
TSMC is a big beneficiary of the global AI trend, being a major supplier to Nvidia and Apple. This will be the sixth consecutive quarter of profit growth and could be a record high.

However, TSMC still faces two factors that could threaten its business prospects. First, the Trump administration’s new tariffs on imported chips, which could increase product prices and reduce demand. And the sharp appreciation of the Taiwan dollar (12%) against the USD, which reduces profit margins, according to TSMC.
Previously, TSMC also announced a $100 billion investment in the US, including $65 billion to build three factories in Arizona - as part of a strategy to reduce dependence on exports.
Nvidia's Arm CPU "dream" launch delayed until 2026
Nvidia's first CPU based on Arm architecture has become the focus of increasing attention, showing the company's ambitions to challenge dominant rivals like Intel, AMD and Apple.
However, that move is now facing serious difficulties. A newly discovered hardware issue has forced further delays, and engineers are reportedly going back to the drawing board to address this latest issue.

According to multiple industry sources cited by SemiAccurate, this could require a significant change in silicon design, and as a result, both the chip’s launch and shipping date have been pushed back to 2026.
A few weeks ago, a supposed “Nvidia N1x” appeared in the online benchmark database Geekbench, revealing some pretty interesting performance scores. The chip appears to be capable of competing with some of the best mobile processors on the market today. The Nvidia N1 lineup is expected to go head-to-head with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, Intel Core Ultra 200HX, Apple M3, and AMD Ryzen AI Max.
Scale AI lays off 14% of employees
Scale AI, a startup that provides labeled data to artificial intelligence training labs, has just announced that it is laying off 200 employees (equivalent to 14% of its staff) and terminating contracts with 500 global collaborators.
The layoffs come as the company has expanded too quickly in data labeling — a core service for training AI models — amid a rapidly changing market. Meta’s hiring of former CEO Alexandr Wang also led to a number of major customers leaving the platform.

Scale AI's Interim CEO Jason Droege said the company will shift its focus to enterprise and government customers, rather than continuing to expand its labeling business.
Scale’s restructuring reflects a common challenge for companies providing AI training data as demand shifts to more automated and cost-effective models. Many companies, like Inflection, have had to sell their staff to larger corporations to stay afloat.
