Having just gone through a heavy training session, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan did not set high expectations. He wanted the players to play with focus, be mentally relaxed and show respect for the other team. U17 Vietnam played well, controlling the game. However, the opportunities were not materialized so the match ended with a score of 0-0.

Today, May 22, the U17 Vietnam team will depart for Japan for training. This trip will last from May 22 to June 5. The team will have three friendly matches with Japanese clubs. After that, the team will return to Vietnam to complete the final preparations in Vung Tau.

Vietnam U17 will participate in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship in Thailand. The tournament will take place from June 15 to July 2 at 4 stadiums: Rajamangala, Pathum Thani, Thammasat and Chonburi. Vietnam U17 is in Group D with Japan, India and Uzbekistan. The semi-finalists will qualify for the U17 World Cup in November 2023.
