Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company consumed nearly 112,000 tons of ash and slag

On October 10, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company (Vinh Hao commune, Lam Dong province) said that in the first 8 months of 2025, it signed contracts with units to consume nearly 112,000 tons of thermal power coal ash.

Currently, ash and slag generated during the electricity production process at Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant (belonging to Vinh Tan Power Company) have been certified to meet standards and regulations, and are qualified to be used as filling materials, for concrete, mortar, roadbed filling, as mineral additives for roller-compacted concrete, etc.

Up to now, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has signed contracts with 3 ash and slag consuming units. Since then, 100% of the ash and slag generated during the production process at Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant has been completely consumed. In addition to consuming ash and slag generated during the production process, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has also promoted the consumption of ash and slag stored at the dumps.

The coal and ash transportation system is implemented in a closed system in Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant.

According to Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company, the volume of ash and slag stored at the slag dump by the end of August 2025 is more than 6.9 million tons. Recently, the company signed a contract with Song Da Cao Cuong Joint Stock Company to build a line to separate and process ash and slag at the slag dump with a committed volume of about 700,000 ^m3 /year. This line has been in operation since May 2025, and is expected to consume all the ash and slag at the slag dump in about 5-7 years.

In 2015, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company (a unit under Power Generation Corporation 3 - EVNGENCO3) took over the management and operation of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant, consisting of 2 units with a total capacity of 1,244 MW. From the time of installation to August 31, 2025, the total electricity output of the plant was more than 73.6 billion kWh. In 2025 alone, as of August 31, the plant produced more than 4.74 billion kWh, reaching more than 57.16% of the 2025 plan assigned by Power Generation Corporation 3 (8.293 billion kWh).
