In early December 2024, Mai Hoa (19 years old, Tay Ho district, Hanoi ) created a social media account called "Eating with Grandma" with the challenge "100 days to feed Grandma 100 Gen Z dishes".

As a "true" Gen Z (born from 1997 to 2012), Hoa decided to take on this challenge, hoping that her grandmother Do Thi Chat (85 years old) would have more new experiences with young people's dishes.

In the first video , Hoa invited her grandmother to a hot dog. Grandma Chat ate it and said, "It's delicious." The grandmother's reaction to her first time eating the snack lasted only 10 seconds but unexpectedly attracted nearly 7 million views.

In the comments section, netizens expressed their interest and admiration for the grandmother and grandchild's love, and suggested dishes for the next challenge.

"Seeing my grandmother eating a cute hot dog, I took a picture to make a memory and posted it on social media like a diary of the two of us. I hope to spread positivity to many people," said student Mai Hoa.

After 15 days of the challenge, Mrs. Chat tried many delicious dishes such as: pizza, donuts, grilled rice paper, milk tea, stone-grilled sausage...

The old lady praised the dishes as "very delicious", even "indescribably delicious", her favorite being the Panna Cotta dessert which was both soft and fragrant.

"I want her to try many new dishes, but prioritize her health with soft, easy-to-eat dishes," Hoa confided.

The female student said she limited her grandmother's fried food intake and instead gave her healthy foods. She also made egg tarts for her grandmother.

Every time her granddaughter buys a new snack, Grandma Chat feels happy and joyful. Before eating, the old lady cares about her grandchildren, often asking Mai Hoa "have you eaten yet?".

Videos of Hoa and her granddaughter suddenly went viral on social media, surprising Mrs. Chat.

"I thank my children and grandchildren. I appreciate and value everyone's affection," the old woman said when she heard her granddaughter say she had become a "celebrity" on social media.

Grandma Chat has 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls), currently living with Mai Hoa's family. The granddaughter is grateful to be raised and cared for by her grandmother, growing up with beautiful memories of her.

"When I was little, I often slept at my grandmother's house and went to play with her on weekends," Hoa recalls her childhood memories.

She believes that the videos of her experience "Eating with Grandma" will be the secret to helping Grandma Chat live a happy and healthy life. In addition, the old lady maintains eating 3 meals a day and taking health supplements.

Besides eating and drinking, the lucid Grandmother Chat often tells her granddaughter stories about the resistance war and hums poems or the Tale of Kieu.
