According to Tech4Gamers , consumers, especially gamers and those working in the creative industry, have just received bad news when Nvidia officially announced a price increase of 10 - 15% on all of its GPU lines. Notably, the expected super product RTX 5090 will now have a starting price of up to 2,500 USD (about 64.8 million VND).

Nvidia shocked everyone when it announced an increase in the price of graphics cards

The decision to raise prices comes as Nvidia is facing financial pressure and rising costs. According to a report from Digitimes , the company suffered a loss of up to $ 5.5 billion in its business results last quarter. The root cause is believed to be changes in US policy in the past few months, including tariffs and export bans, which have caused significant damage to manufacturing companies. Before Nvidia, Microsoft also had to increase the price of its Xbox Series X/S gaming consoles, making them less accessible to ordinary users.

One of Nvidia’s main revenue drivers is AI chips, but they are currently facing an export ban in the important Chinese market. This has led to lower-than-expected sales of chips like the H20. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been traveling between the US and China, even negotiating with US President Donald Trump to find a way to lift the ban. In addition, Nvidia’s move of some GPU production to the US has also caused operating and manufacturing costs to skyrocket compared to manufacturing in Taiwan.

To cope with declining sales and rising costs, Nvidia was forced to adjust its prices. Specifically, the ASUS RTX 5090 model increased by 10%, other Blackwell GPUs increased by 5-10%, while dedicated AI GPU lines such as the H200 and B200 had the biggest increase, up to nearly 15%.

This price increase will certainly make the GPU market, which is already expensive and scarce (even with the newly launched Blackwell line), more tense, with the potential for speculation and 'price gouging' increasing. However, Nvidia remains optimistic, saying that global AI GPU demand (even excluding China) remains strong, and the company expects to recover, achieving excellent profit results later this month according to financial forecasts.
