Recently, on social networks, opinions have appeared about many traffic participants not paying attention to speed limit signs and thus violating them. Some have proposed that the authorities add or paint the maximum speed limit on the road surface like other road markings to limit the above situation and reduce the risk of accidents.
Many people have expressed their support.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh (residing in Phu Tho ) thinks this is a reasonable proposal because many drivers who are not familiar with the road will be confused when observing signs and finding their way.
Ms. Ngoc Huyen (living in Hanoi ) shared that on some national highways with a lot of traffic, especially trucks, signs can be obscured. Painting the maximum speed or directions directly on the road surface will help drivers observe better.
Also agreeing with the above opinion, Mr. Dao Thanh Ha (living in Hanoi) said that the current traffic sign system is mainly placed on the roadside, many places are blocked by large trees so it is difficult to observe. If the authorities paint under the road surface, this situation will be somewhat limited.
However, there are also some opinions that painting values and traffic signs on the road surface is unnecessary.
Mr. Pham Cong Chien (residing in Ho Chi Minh City) shared that speeding is a matter of the driver's compliance and has nothing to do with the sign. Even if they see the sign, they will still violate it.
"Painting on the road surface will not last long because after a short time, vehicles will drive on it and the paint will fade, so regular maintenance is required," Mr. Chien analyzed.
Ms. Thuy Quynh (residing in Lao Cai) also said that roads in our country are often covered with dirt, sand, and construction materials, so the values are easily obscured. Therefore, speed signs should be installed on traffic lights or on median strips.
Regarding this opinion, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that the issue of painting on the road surface some values and traffic signals such as: prescribed speed, lanes for vehicle types or other traffic notices and instructions... is also part of the Department's traffic safety orientation.
Major General Do Thanh Binh, Director of the Traffic Police Department, worked directly with the Department's leaders and units under the Vietnam Road Administration to discuss issues related to planning, construction, and development of traffic infrastructure, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety.
In which, it is agreed to survey, evaluate and propose the implementation of painting traffic signs on the road surface, information on vehicle types traveling in each lane and other necessary traffic instructions.
