The Department of Registration denies the news that "96% of gasoline vehicles must stop selling"

(QNgTV)- The Vietnam Register has just denied worrying information that "96% of gasoline-powered vehicles will have to stop selling" if new fuel consumption standards are applied.

According to the Registry Department, the draft fuel consumption standards are currently only in the consultation phase, have not been issued and do not create mandatory obligations for businesses or people.

This standard only applies to newly manufactured, assembled and imported vehicles, not to vehicles already in circulation. The consumption of 4.83 liters/100km by 2030 is the national average target, not applied to each vehicle model. Enterprises will have their own targets, based on the product structure.

The drafting committee affirmed that it will continue to research and collect opinions to have a reasonable implementation roadmap, both to fulfill the commitment to reduce emissions and to be suitable with the reality of the Vietnamese market.
