Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director Phan Linh Chi emphasized: Vietnam is blessed with many scenic spots and diverse ecosystems, along with a rich cultural and historical treasure, creating great potential for tourism development. The country currently has more than 40,000 relics, nearly 70,000 intangible cultural heritages that have been inventoried. Of these, 33 heritages are recognized by UNESCO, 133 are special national relics, 3,630 national relics, 11,232 provincial relics, 589 intangible cultural heritages. In addition, Vietnam has a coastline of 3,260 km, 125 beaches, 7,966 festivals, 34 national parks and more than 1,000 caves, geoparks, biosphere reserves...
However, the investigation, assessment and classification of tourism resources have not been systematically implemented for unified management and exploitation nationwide. Therefore, the investigation of tourism resources is an important basis for planning, developing appropriate and effective tourism policies and products. The 2017 Tourism Law clearly stipulates this work, requiring comprehensive and detailed implementation nationwide. Recognizing the importance of tourism resource investigation activities, in 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a plan and investigation scheme, clearly defining responsibilities between ministries, branches and localities to ensure unified and effective coordination.
The Deputy Director said that today's training conference was held in the Southern region in general, Ninh Thuan province in particular, where there is a system of extremely rich and diverse tourism resources and products, which is of great significance in improving the quality of tourism resource surveys. The Deputy Director believes that the active participation of the delegates will contribute significantly to the completion of the national tourism database - a valuable resource for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. The Deputy Director suggested that after the conference, localities should urgently develop a plan to conduct resource surveys, associated with state management of tourism, serving the planning, exploitation and development of tourism destinations and products.
