On the afternoon of June 19, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' regular press conference, in response to a reporter's question regarding the third round of negotiations on the bilateral reciprocal trade agreement between Vietnam and the United States, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that the third round of negotiations on the bilateral reciprocal trade agreement between Vietnam and the United States was held in Washington DC (USA) from June 9-12.
During the four days of negotiations, the delegation made significant progress and narrowed the gap in all areas of discussion.
During the negotiations, the United States highly appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts, affirming its commitment to the relationship with Vietnam, acknowledging Vietnam's proposals and concerns, and viewing them as an important basis for both sides to continue discussions and promote the achievement of an agreement between the two countries.
The Vietnamese negotiating team affirmed its determination to build a balanced and sustainable economic and trade relationship with the United States, for the benefit of the people and businesses of both countries.
The Vietnamese and US negotiating teams agreed to entrust the technical levels of both sides to continue exchanges and reach an agreement soon that meets the expectations and conditions of both sides.
Also at the press conference, in response to a reporter's question about the US State Department's announcement on June 18th that it would resume the visa application process for foreign students after a temporary suspension, Ms. Pham Thu Hang stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its representative offices in the United States are currently investigating the matter; and expressed hope that the application process for US student visas will continue smoothly, meeting the legitimate needs and aspirations of students from various countries, including Vietnam.
