Strengthening and enhancing the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos

VOV.VN - On the evening of October 19, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man successfully concluded his official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic and attended the 45th AIPA General Assembly. This working trip has special significance in consolidating and enhancing the special Vietnam-Laos relationship to a new height; at the same time, he actively and effectively participated in the activities of AIPA-45.
In the beautiful, peaceful and hospitable land of Champa, in a solemn, sincere and warm atmosphere, the talks and meetings between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior leaders of the Lao People's Democratic Republic discussed many important issues of special significance in consolidating and enhancing the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to a new height, for the benefit of the people of each country, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Saysomphone Phomvihane. The two National Assembly leaders witnessed the Cooperation Agreement between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lao National Assembly. This agreement aims to strengthen the supervision of the agreements signed by the two countries in all fields. In particular, the signing of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee of the two countries aims to further promote economic, trade and investment cooperation to be increasingly effective and substantive, commensurate with the already good political relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The meetings with high-ranking leaders of your country such as General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR Thongloun Sisoulith and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone lasted longer than usual. The two sides exchanged many important contents on measures to further strengthen the relationship between the two Parties and the two States.

According to Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha: "On the National Assembly channel, Lao leaders also highly appreciated the cooperation between the two National Assemblies and the two legislative bodies through sharing experiences, exchanging delegations and strengthening close coordination, as well as jointly organizing discussions and exchanging experiences in legislative work, supervision and deciding on important issues. In particular, the other side also highly appreciated the experience that the Vietnamese side shared with you in the past time on amending the Constitution as well as building laws to serve the renovation of the Lao PDR in the coming time." National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also took the time to welcome and talk warmly with the leaders of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association; Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction. President of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association Boviengkham Vongdara affirmed: "The meeting between the leaders of the two countries, both bilaterally and multilaterally, is a good opportunity for the two sides to exchange opinions, meet each other and also to direct the ministries, branches, as well as the organizations of the two countries to effectively implement the guidelines, policies and strategies of the two countries in cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two Governments, and two National Assemblies. This is the best opportunity for the two countries to continue promoting this unique and special friendship." Although the official visit to Laos by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man lasted for nearly two days, he and senior leaders of Laos and former senior leaders exchanged many specific and substantive contents, aiming to continue to inherit and consolidate the relationship in which the Parties and people of the two countries have shared weal and woe together, "biting a grain of salt in half, breaking a stalk of vegetable in half", overcoming all hardships to gain independence and freedom. Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam said: "It can be said that the official visit to Laos by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of our National Assembly is of special importance and significance in consolidating and strengthening the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to a new height, for the benefit of the people of each country, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world." With the tradition of solidarity, Vietnam and Laos will continue to overcome difficulties, together fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples to be forever green and everlasting, actively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland in each country, for peace , stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Speech by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man raises the importance of implementing international law

The 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) was held at the National Convention Center in Vientiane, Laos, with the participation of delegations from Parliaments, Member Parliaments, Observers and Development Partners of AIPA. This year's theme of AIPA is "The Role of Parliaments in Enhancing ASEAN's Connectivity and Inclusive Growth". The conference took place in the context of a complex and unpredictable international and regional situation, posing both opportunities and challenges, including many important issues such as conflicts breaking out in many places, climate change, natural disasters, and economic and financial crises. In the face of unprecedented difficulties and challenges, cooperation continues to be valued and is a prominent trend in relations between countries. Speaking at the first session with the theme "The role of Parliament in enhancing connectivity and comprehensive growth of ASEAN", National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that parliamentary cooperation will be the driving force to promote the implementation of building a rules-based ASEAN Community, reflecting the voice and aspirations of the people, putting the people at the center of all development policies, creating comprehensive and profound changes for the community and each member country. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: "The Vietnamese National Assembly believes that AIPA, together with ASEAN, needs to always uphold the spirit of solidarity and unity, raise the sense of responsibility to contribute to the common effort to effectively respond to challenges that threaten peace, security and stability in the region, and at the same time contribute effectively and comprehensively to the process of building the ASEAN Community; believing that with the joint efforts of ASEAN countries, we will continue to strengthen the ASEAN wall to become increasingly stronger in the face of all difficulties and challenges of the times." Listening to the speech of the National Assembly Chairman in this session, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack said that the speech of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was very profound and comprehensive: "The leaders of the Vietnamese National Assembly proposed 3 or 4 ideas, I think that those are ideas that contribute to the success of this AIPA-45 General Assembly and the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly has made statements that help raise the importance of implementing international law; implementing Vision 2025 of all ASEAN countries; increasingly better cooperation in natural disaster prevention; continuing to develop cooperation in different fields, making our ASEAN stronger and stronger, becoming a leading force in cooperation, helping ASEAN always develop and leaving no one behind." Within the framework of the 45th AIPA General Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Lao National Assembly Chairman, AIPA-45 Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary had a working breakfast in Vientiane. At this breakfast and working session, the heads of the three National Assemblies shared their views and proposals to continue promoting the trilateral and bilateral relationship. Also at this Inter-Parliamentary Forum, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had bilateral meetings with leaders of the parliaments of Singapore, Thailand, and Belarus. These meetings were in the spirit of openness, sharing, and recommendations and proposals to further promote parliamentary activities. The official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his attendance at AIPA-45 organized by Laos affirmed that Vietnam supports Laos in its capacity as AIPA Chair, in order to continue consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, which is unique in the world ; at the same time, affirming the role of the Vietnamese National Assembly, always proactively and actively contributing substantially to the content of AIPA.
