The World Economic Forum (WEF Tianjin) with the theme "Entrepreneurship for a new era" to discuss risks, difficulties, challenges as well as opportunities and emerging trends of the global economy in the current volatile world context.
This is the third consecutive time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has been invited to attend the WEF Conference in China, also known as the “Summer Davos WEF Conference”. This shows the WEF’s respect and appreciation for Vietnam’s growing role and position, its impressive achievements in socio-economic growth and development, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh himself.
Maintain your courage and stay focused on your goals
The leaders of WEF and the host country China gave Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam a solemn and thoughtful welcome. The focus of the 16th WEF Tianjin Conference was on the event when Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the National Policy Dialogue session "Vietnam - The Era of Rising: Vision to Action" as a special guest under the coordination of WEF Executive Chairman Borge Brende, with the participation of about 100 delegates representing governments, organizations and businesses around the world. We noticed that the number of registrants for this special discussion session far exceeded the capacity, as there were still many guests waiting outside and the Organizing Committee could not arrange seats in the room.
Coordinator Brende asked difficult questions, which are also issues that the world public is very concerned about Vietnam, such as how Vietnam should behave in the context of fierce strategic competition between major powers, to balance relations between countries. The Prime Minister answered the questions fluently, satisfying the delegates. The Prime Minister said that Vietnam must have a smart and balanced approach, especially in the face of current geopolitical competition. Vietnam is also diversifying its markets, products, supply chains, and production chains to "be able to have the conditions to cope when the weather changes".
Another highlight of the 16th WEF Tianjin Conference was the remarkable speeches of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh about Asia at the discussion session “Is the Asian century facing challenges?” when pointing out the risks and challenges that Asia is facing as well as the opportunities, strengths, foundations and core values of the region. This is one of the most important and anticipated discussion sessions of this year’s WEF Conference.
The Head of the Vietnamese Government strongly affirmed that Asia has sufficient foundations and bases to continue to develop, rise up and increasingly assert its role as a pillar and locomotive in the global economy. That is the strong internal strength, the resilience to overcome all adversities, and the unique cultural identity that makes up the core values of Asia.
The messages, initiatives and proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh were highly appreciated by the Forum, “correct and on-point” with the current trend, sharing experiences from Vietnam’s reality, highly convincing, leaving a deep impression on the delegates. The Prime Minister shared with the world the image of a Vietnam that is striving to develop breakthroughs, entering a new era.
Deepening relations with China
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s bilateral working trip to China this time takes place in the context of Vietnam and China celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and jointly implementing the Year of Humanitarian Exchange. This continues to realize and deepen the important common perception reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, maintaining and consolidating the stable and positive development momentum of the Vietnam-China relationship as “both comrades and brothers”.
In that spirit, the talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chinese Premier Li Qiang took place in an atmosphere of friendship, political trust, and mutual understanding. The Prime Minister proposed that the two sides synchronously deploy three standard gauge railway lines connecting Vietnam and China, in which priority should be given to accelerating the construction of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong line in December 2025; hoped that China would support Vietnam with preferential loans, technology transfer, human resource training, and cooperate with Vietnam in building a synchronous and modern railway industry; and proposed that the two sides cooperate in investing in the construction of major projects that are symbolic of the relationship between the two countries.
At the Vietnam-China Business Connection Forum held in Tianjin, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the business communities of the two countries to continue to promote their role as a bridge and an important pillar to connect the two economies and two countries, creating development and mutual benefit. This message was warmly welcomed by the business communities of the two countries.
The activities of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation at the 16th WEF Tianjin Conference were closely followed by international public opinion, especially the Chinese press, which reported extensively, highly appreciating the Vietnamese Government leader for his great contribution to the success of the 16th WEF Tianjin Conference, thereby demonstrating a dynamic, active, and responsible Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the country's image and position in the international arena as well as efforts to continue to consolidate and develop the Vietnam-China friendship and cooperation to a new height.
