After the administrative unit arrangement, Thanh Mai commune, Thai Nguyen province was formed and put into operation on the basis of merging Thanh Mai, Thanh Van and Mai Lap communes (formerly Bac Kan province). In the commune, there are currently 137 households eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses, including: 126 households to rebuild and 11 households to repair. By early July, the commune had started construction on 114 houses, of which 48 were completed. However, in the commune, there are 37 households that are eligible, but do not need to implement in 2025. These households have all made a commitment not to question or complain about the program.
The progress of removing temporary and dilapidated houses in Thanh Mai commune is facing difficulties because some households lack counterpart funds, while the price of raw materials has increased. On the other hand, the high and isolated mountainous terrain and floods also make it difficult to transport materials. Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Duc Duc commune said: To concretize the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the commune's steering committee has assigned members in charge of each village to review and accurately summarize each specific case to make a detailed plan. With efforts and determination, the commune is determined to soon complete the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.
On the morning of July 6, Thanh Mai commune leaders went directly to the villages to mobilize households that had received support but had not yet started construction to start building houses; at the same time, they continued to mobilize 37 households that were eligible for support but had not yet registered to participate in this humanitarian program.
Bang Thanh used to be the largest commune in Bac Kan province (old). After the administrative reorganization and the merger of neighboring communes, the new Bang Thanh commune is still one of the largest communes in Thai Nguyen province (new). Located about 200 km from the provincial center, with a high poverty rate and difficult traffic, the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses in Bang Thanh is difficult. Through review and statistics, Bang Thanh currently has 330 temporary and dilapidated houses. Currently, the commune has completed 168 houses; 86 houses have started construction and are under construction. The number of houses that have not started construction is 76 due to difficulties in transporting materials and lack of land; 21 households have not registered to implement.
Party Secretary of the commune Dao Duy Hung said: With the spirit of not counting holidays and not being afraid of long distances, the working groups of the steering committee have visited each household to mobilize and direct the implementation. People will be supported in advance to mobilize machinery for leveling, creating land, and transporting materials. For households without land, they will be arranged in the resettlement area of Leo Luong and collective land in Ngam Vang village. The commune has finalized the data and each specific case to report to the province for additional funding, determined to complete the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for the people as soon as possible.
Currently, the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Thai Nguyen province is only concentrated in 37 northern communes, which were formerly communes of Bac Kan province. Before the merger, Thai Nguyen province (formerly) had completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses since April 2025. According to statistics of Thai Nguyen province (as of July 5), in 37 northern communes, there are 6,008 households eligible for support. The number of households eligible for support in 2025 is 4,651, of which 3,922 have started and completed construction. However, out of the total number of households eligible for support, up to 1,357 households did not register for implementation in 2025. The main reasons are that households do not have land, are not able to respond, or have religious beliefs... Although Bac Kan province (old) has strongly directed and mobilized, many households still do not register for implementation in 2025. Communes had to have households sign a commitment not to question or complain, and continue to mobilize households to register for implementation.
Faced with this situation, on the very first Saturday of the first week of operating the new province, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee and the comrades in the Standing Committee of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee directly went to the communes in the north to inspect, direct and urge. 16 inspection teams of the provincial steering committee inspected the communes with many difficulties, obstacles and slow progress, including: Thanh Mai, Cho Ra, Cuong Loi, Bang Thanh, Thuong Minh, Na Phac, Nam Cuong, Phuc Loc, Nghien Loan, Ba Be, Hiep Luc, Nghia Ta, Cao Minh, Thuong Quan, Dong Phuc, Ngan Son.
The inspection teams requested to urgently review households eligible for support but not yet registered; in which, difficulties and obstacles must be clearly specified to have solutions to overcome. Directly inspecting Cho Ra commune, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Nguyen province Dinh Quang Tuyen requested that Cho Ra commune urgently review the data, subjects, and criteria of households eligible for support; mobilize maximum resources to support households in especially difficult circumstances, completing the goals according to plan.
At the meeting of the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Thai Nguyen Province, Provincial Party Secretary Trinh Viet Hung emphasized that this is not only an important political task, but also an "order from the heart", a noble humanitarian act. The Provincial Party Secretary requested the steering committees of communes to conduct propaganda and mobilize households that are eligible for support but have not registered to participate in the program, and have accurate data to report to the provincial steering committee. Members of the steering committees at all levels and Party committees at all levels should strengthen inspection, supervision, and set an example in mobilizing to lead and direct the implementation of comprehensive and effective goals.
Thai Nguyen province strives to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiaries and meritorious people before July 27; complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households before August 31 ■
