The monkey that attacked the 10-year-old child in Cam Lo commune has been captured.

This afternoon, July 4, Head of Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department (Quang Tri province) Ha Van Bac said that after receiving information about a monkey attacking and injuring a person, the authorities verified and successfully captured the monkey.

Accordingly, today, July 4, the Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department coordinated with officers and soldiers of Nghia An Prison, forest protection forces of Quang Tri Special-Use Forest Management Board and local authorities to be present at Rao Vinh area in An Trung village, Cam Lo commune to verify the location of the monkey and deploy measures to capture it. During this process, the monkey caused minor injuries to 4 people in the force.

Currently, the monkey has been brought to Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department for care and nurturing. After that, a plan will be made to release it back into the wild in a suitable area to avoid the monkey continuing to attack people.

It is known that this monkey is a pig-tailed macaque (Macaca leonina), male, weighs about 10 kg and is a rare animal in group IIB. It is still unclear where the monkey came from.

Previously, Quang Tri Online Newspaper reported that at around 9:00 a.m. on July 3, BTNQ (10 years old, residing in Dak Lak province) and his family went to Rao Vinh stream, Cam Lo commune to play when they were suddenly attacked by a monkey, causing injuries to many parts of his body and requiring hospitalization. Currently, Q.'s health is stable.
