Da Lat: Honoring typical families with revolutionary contributions and meeting former leaders, cadres and soldiers through the ages

(LĐ online) - On the afternoon of April 2, the People's Committee of Da Lat city solemnly held a ceremony to honor typical families with revolutionary contributions and met with former leaders, cadres and soldiers of Da Lat city through the periods on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Da Lat Liberation Day (April 3, 1975 - April 3, 2025).

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai and Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province Pham Trieu presented flowers and Commemorative Medals to delegates who were former leaders, cadres and soldiers through the periods.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province Pham Trieu; leaders and representatives of departments, branches and sectors of the province.

On the Da Lat side, there were Secretary of the Da Lat City Party Committee Dang Duc Hiep; Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Da Lat City People's Council Ngo Thi My Loi; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Da Lat City People's Committee Dang Quang Tu; leaders of departments and units under the city; leaders of communes and wards in the area.

Present at the Ceremony were also delegates who were former Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, Standing Committee members, Executive Committee members of the City Party Committee; Chairman, Vice Chairman of the People's Council, People's Committee of Da Lat City who have retired or transferred to work and are currently living in Da Lat City; former cadres, soldiers and families of revolutionary bases who participated in the liberation of Da Lat; former leaders of the City Military Command through the periods; former female resistance fighters who worked in the Da Lat resistance zone; representatives of the Prisoners' Association, the City Agent Orange Association; representatives of the Northeast Revolutionary Tradition Liaison Committee; the City Female Soldiers' Liaison Committee; the Southwest Da Lat Liaison Committee; the Ho Chi Minh Trail Truong Son Tradition Association of Da Lat City.

In his opening speech, Secretary of the Da Lat City Party Committee Dang Duc Hiep reviewed the glorious and heroic history of the army and people of Da Lat in the process of fighting, protecting, building and developing the city.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, together with the whole country, Da Lat - Tuyen Duc fought steadfastly, making an important contribution to the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country. Since the establishment of the Da Lat Party Committee (1955) and the Da Lat City Party Committee (1961), the army and people of Da Lat have continuously won victories, especially in the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of Mau Than 1968.

Entering the 70s, under the leadership of the Zone 6 Party Committee and Tuyen Duc Provincial Party Committee, the army and people of Da Lat persevered in their struggle, contributing to forcing the US to sign the Paris Agreement. The peak of the resistance war was the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. On April 3, 1975, Da Lat was completely liberated, contributing significantly to the overall victory of the nation.

“The victory of April 3, 1975 is a testament to the patriotism and indomitable will of the army and people of Da Lat - Tuyen Duc. To achieve this victory, many outstanding people sacrificed their youth and blood for the Fatherland. The State has recognized these great contributions with a series of noble titles for outstanding collectives and individuals,” the Secretary of the City Party Committee emphasized.

Looking back on the past 50 years, the Secretary of the Da Lat City Party Committee expressed his joy that from a city facing countless difficulties due to the consequences of war, it has now risen strongly, becoming a developed, modern and civilized urban area. The Party Committee and the people of the city have continuously continued to make efforts, be creative, and strive to achieve many victories in all aspects. In recognition of their outstanding achievements in the process of fighting, protecting, building and developing the city, the State has awarded the army and people of Da Lat many noble awards such as the Second Class Labor Medal - 2002, the First Class Labor Medal - 2007, the Third Class Independence Medal - 2013, and the Third Class Labor Medal - 2021.

Secretary of the Da Lat City Party Committee Dang Duc Hiep affirmed that Da Lat today is not only a resort tourism center of the country and the region, a famous tourist destination that attracts domestic and foreign tourists. The Da Lat tourism brand is being positioned on the tourism map of Vietnam and the region, but also the only Flower Festival City of Vietnam, a UNESCO Creative City of Music, becoming a center of culture, arts, sports and entertainment of the whole country. The city is in the process of building a smart city, a world heritage city. Da Lat has been recognized twice as an "ASEAN Clean Tourist City" and has been honored to receive many prestigious awards. These achievements are the result of the spirit of solidarity and the tireless efforts of the entire political system and all the people of the city.

Looking back on the past, Da Lat is developing in the right direction, achieving many important and comprehensive achievements. This success comes from the investment attention of the Central Government, Lam Dong Province, the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, and the spirit of solidarity and consensus of the people, ethnic groups and religions in the city. It is also the result of the unceasing efforts of the team of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, farmers and businessmen; the proactiveness, creativity, listening to the people, promptly removing difficulties, improving the quality of life.

“These valuable lessons will continue to be the guiding principle for the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the entire political system in the process of performing their tasks, contributing to building Da Lat to develop more and more sustainably,” said the City Party Committee Secretary.

Secretary of Da Lat City Youth Union Tran Anh Tu, representing the city's young generation, expressed his feelings.

The ceremony was held on this occasion to demonstrate the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", to express deep gratitude to the revolutionary predecessors, heroic martyrs and all compatriots who have devoted and sacrificed their blood, bones, efforts and intelligence for the cause of revolutionary struggle, national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland; thereby also contributing to educating and promoting the tradition of patriotism, arousing pride, nurturing and raising awareness of the glorious and heroic tradition of Da Lat city - Lam Dong for today's generation; affirming the achievements in the cause of building and developing Da Lat city to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern.

According to the Secretary of the City Party Committee, in the current work of Party building and the city's political system, especially in implementing the policy of rearranging administrative units and organizational apparatus in the political system, Da Lat city is determined to well implement the policies of the Central Party Committee and Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee; firmly adhere to the goals; continue to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the entire Party Committee, promote the strength of ethnic solidarity, effectively exploit and use all resources, build a stable and sustainable Da Lat city.
