Da Nang "stretch neck" waiting for Chinese tourists

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động01/03/2024

Mr. Hoang Viet Hung, a Chinese tour guide in Da Nang , said that although Agoda provided data, the number of searches from China to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year holiday has almost recovered compared to before the pandemic, but in reality, there are almost no tourists from China visiting the locality.

"Currently, Chinese tour guides are also waiting for China to open its doors and direct flights to Da Nang. As long as there are direct flights, there will be customers," said Mr. Hung.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Xoang, General Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Service Company, said that currently the number of Chinese tourists coming to Da Nang for sightseeing and tourism is very small. Most Chinese tourists coming to Da Nang currently only come via flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or from Hong Kong.

The lack of direct flights makes it difficult for tourists to choose Da Nang as their destination because the cost of the trip increases due to having to take connecting flights.

Hai Van Cat is a unit specializing in organizing tours to bring and welcome Chinese tourists to Da Nang, but in recent months, it has only welcomed 2-3 groups per month, the highest number is only 4-5 groups. Meanwhile, before the COVID-19 pandemic, Hai Van Cat welcomed about 40-50 Chinese tourist groups per month, not including groups from charter flights.

According to Mr. Xoang, in order for Da Nang to be a destination for Chinese tourists in the near future, it is necessary to have a direct flight connecting the two localities. Vietnam and Da Nang City are ready for this.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said that service and travel agencies as well as local authorities are ready to welcome Chinese tourists. However, Mr. Dung also said that after the COVID-19 pandemic, China's tourism policies have not yet "fully opened".
