Da Nang inaugurates the 10th National Sports Festival.

TPO - The 10th Da Nang City Sports Festival, lasting until the end of September 2026, is expected to attract tens of thousands of athletes competing in 25 sports and disciplines, demonstrating the local government's determination to develop sports in a modern, professional, and sustainable direction.

The opening ceremony featured an artistic performance titled " Da Nang Soars High with the Nation," presented by the Trung Vuong Theater in Da Nang, with the participation of 350 artists, actors, and volunteers.

The meticulously staged program combines modern music , youthful performance language, and energetic grand scenes, recreating the burning sporting spirit and the ambition for breakthrough of the city on the Han River in the new era.

Immediately afterwards, 25 contingents marched in a show of force with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes, coaches, referees, actors, students, officials, soldiers, and people of various ethnic groups in the city.

The parade contingents brought a colorful, youthful, and enthusiastic atmosphere to the Da Nang City Sports Festival, showcasing the spirit and aspirations of the athletes and coaches.

The highlight of the opening ceremony was the torch relay, the lighting of the torch, and the drumming to officially open the Games. The traditional flame was carried by 20 outstanding athletes from Da Nang City from the Ho Chi Minh Museum's flame stand, Military Region 5 branch, to the Tien Son Sports Complex.

Receiving the traditional flame from the delegation of athletes, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung performed the torch-lighting ceremony to officially open the Games.

The Da Nang City Sports Festival includes 25 sports and disciplines, such as chess, Chinese chess, table tennis, volleyball, men's football, pickleball, Vovinam, etc. The competitions will take place until the end of September 2026.

In recent times, the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh" has continued to spread strongly in Da Nang City. Alongside mass sports, high-performance sports continue to affirm their position among the leading localities and units nationwide.

Many athletes have achieved outstanding results at national, regional, and international competitions; making positive contributions to the Vietnamese sports delegation at the SEA Games, ASIAD, and the Olympics.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Games, in the general trend of global development, sports are not only about competition and achievements, but are also linked to the economy, tourism, technology, environment, and international integration.

"Da Nang is determined to develop sports in a modern, professional, and sustainable direction; maintain and develop traditional sports and sports of ethnic minorities; effectively exploit the advantages of the sea, natural landscapes, and urban infrastructure to become a leading center for organizing sports events, sports tourism, and marine sports in the country," Ms. Thi said.
